Joan Osborne - One of us

Joan Osborne is an american blues singer and songwriter. Her biggest success was the song One of us., written by Eric Bazilian and released in March 1995.
The song deals with various aspects of belief in God by asking simple questions as If God had a name what would it be? or If God had a face what would it look like?.
I remember doing a work to my religion class 3 years ago about this song.
I really like it. It puts God in a place like a simple human, like one of us.

If God had a name what would it be?
And would you call it to his face?
If you were faced with Him in all His glory
What would you ask if you had just one question?

1-And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Tryin' to make his way home?

If God had a face what would it look like?
And would you want to see if, seeing meant
That you would have to believe in things like heaven
And in Jesus and the saints, and all the prophets?

Back up to heaven all alone
No, nobody calling on the phone
No, just tryin' to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
'Cept for the Pope maybe in Rome
