UB40 are an english band from Birmingham, started their career in 1978 until now and the members are Robin Campbell, Earl Falconer, James Brown, Brian Travers, Astro, Norman Hassan, Duncan Campbell and Tony Mullings [for older members click here).
The name is a reference to the document that people could claim their unemployment benefit from the UK government's Department of Health and Social Security (DHSS) when the band started their career. The name is officially from Unemployment Benefit, Form 40.
They are one of the most successful reggae acting bands of all times with over 70 million records sold.
With 17 studio albums, 13 compilation albums, 6 live albums and 2 remixed albums, UB40 are one of the most stable bands around and their style isn't always easy to enjoy so I am fascinated for their success and mostly their music.
This song "Red Red Wine" was released in 1980 from the album "Labour of Love" and is related with how friendly and "helpful" a wine in this case a Red wine can be when you are heartbreaken.
"Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don`t let me be alone
It`s tearin` apart
My blue, blue heart"
I totally recommend this song. Makes part of my musical imaginarium since I remember being a person, it's part of me, part of what i became, it's one of those songs that I've sing-a-long since ever, that I know the lyrics, that the rhythms buy my soul all the time.
I love this song because keeps things real to me.
Hope you all enjoy it.
Peace and ♥
