The band is composed by Jonathan Pierce (vocals), Jacob Graham (synthesizers), Connor Hanwick (guitar), Myles Matheny (guitar/bass guitar) and a live member Danny Allen (drums).
In December 2009, the band were shortlisted as one of the 15 bands for BBC Sound of 2010, which put them at #5 in the same list on 4 January 2010.
In NME's first issue of 2010, they were mentioned as number 1 in the magazine's TOP tips for the year aswell on Clash Magazine's tips for 2010.
For Pitchfork Media they were voted "Best Hope for 2010" by readers in 2009.
After the disaster in Japan, the band released a single The New World on April 11, 2011.
The band already supported Florence and The Machine and Kings of Leon.
The Drums released a self-titled album in 2010 and Portamento in 2011, both incredibly well received by the critics.
They've revealed that at the end of June 2011, the band almost split up due to stylistic disagreements.
Money is the first single taken from Portamento, which was released as a digital download on September 4.
