Tonight: Franz Ferdinand was very well-received by music critics. It's a concept album based on a night of partying and how morning effects after. Released by Domino Records on January 26, 2009, the record was cooked since 2007, after Kapranos and McCarthy decided to write new songs, although the 8 songs written in 2005, because they wanted the new record to have a distinguish sound.
So Franz Ferdinand decided to stop touring for a while and dedicate themselves exclusively to the new album.
The band was inspired by "heavy dub sound of Jamaican reggae stars" with Kapranos adding "..the heavy bass and space echo you would find on a dub mix."
In an interview with Billboard.com, he also said "It's the opposite of punk/pop, which took something that was wonderful and removed all the dirt."

No You Girls was the second single taken from Tonight: Franz Ferdinand album.
This song, as well as Katherine Kiss Me, are about Alex Kaprano's first kiss with this girl named Katherine and "how awkward it was and how we misunderstood each other".
Initially the name for the song was named Katherine Kiss Me, it was changed to No You Girls Never Know and later shortened to the title we know.
Katherine Kiss Me is an acoustic and tender version of this song, it's how it really happened and No You Girls is how he remembers it.

The video was released on March 13th and was directed by Nima Nourizadeh. The video features a group of girls with large dresses, spinning around with video cameras, while the band is performing, including machines spitting papers saying "No"

"Lick your cigarette then kiss me
Kiss me where your eye won't meet me
Meet me where your mind won't kiss me
Lick your eyes and mind and then hit me"
