For my first DVD live review I couldn't, well I could but I my heart wouldn't let me, do a review of any album but one of P!nk's.
This tour was her third to support her fourth album, I'm Not Dead. It had 159 shows: 22 in North America, 97 in europe, 36 in Australia, 1 in Asia and 3 in Africa. This one was filmed in her final sold-out London I'm Not Dead tour date.
With this tour she won the MTV Live Performer Award in MTV Australia Awards 2008.
(*) The important part, where the lady appears, starts with Cuz I can where P!nk "comes up from the stage in a sexy leather officer-like outfit". It’s one of those songs that can make you say at loud "FUCK IT, I CAN DO THIS!" (yes.. I know.. Caps Lock, my bad) even if the second before you were crying, I'm telling you it's true, it happened to me.
Next, the rebeld kid, she has inside of her, shows up and sings Trouble.
And if we weren't already wishing to be there, P!nk lays on the stage and starts singing Just like a pill, one of her greatest hits from her second album.
The next three songs are from the album I'm Not Dead .
(*) Who knew, in my opinion the best version of this song is in this DVD. It seems she feels every word she is singing, which is actually what we don’t see very much these days. It’s my favorite song of her. The last time she sings the chorus it’s the best thing ever, it’s the highest point, full of emotion, and where you can actually hear that her voice reaches a higher point than you could imagine. :) [This video is a version pretty close to the one from the DVD]
“This one is called I’m Not dead as well”, again it’s one of those like Cuz I can that makes you jump out of bed and carry on with your life.
Now, the funny one. Stupid Girls is where P!nk acts like a stereotypical Hollywood naughty girl. This music has a awesome video and the performance on this DVD is nothing but great too, it shows how most women act these days. Most of them worry about their hair and boobs isntead of things that are really important. "Oh my god guys I totally had like 300 calories today that is sooo not sexy."
Next up is a Spanish dance. Her band's guitarist, Justin Derrico, plays a song with an accoustic guitar, leading into Pink's hit There You Go, from her first CD, a diff version from the one that’s on the CD, while P!nk is still dancing and singing.
Then P!nk has fun while singing and dancing God is a Dj.
(*) Now… cover your ears and eyes, if you are a child or you’re sensible to certain images, ahahaha!
A large net comes down P!nk comes out fully clothed but as the beat of the song Fingers progresses, she strips down to a 2 piece langerie. The net begins to rise as she performs flexibility stunts within. Finally turning it into a swing 30 feet up in the air. By the end of the song she drops herself upside down, hanging by her legs.
After a few minutes with no music it follows, probably one of her saddest songs ‘till I’m Not Dead era, Family Portrait. It starts with a piano solo and P!nk appears with a long skirt. It is emotional and toutching. It’s about her family.
(*) After this melancholic song she sits with Justin Derrico, Stacy Campbell and Jenny Douglas-Foote. Before singing she explains she wanted a bonfire although she couldn’t afford the insurance.
It starts with The one that got away and then it’s the controversial but so true Dear Mr President, on the LCD screens behind her are images of President Bush and results of the war.
(*) The next one is a cover from the emblematic song from 4 Non Blondes What’s up. The entire crowd sings along with P!nk, “if you don’t know the song the lyrics are yei yei yei…yei what’s going on?”.
Would you kill me if I said I like this version more than the original?
(*) Arriving on stage on a motorcycle and leather panties, P!nk sings U + Ur Hand. P!nk “rocks the song out with intense energy and an attitude no other artist of today's generation could pull off”.
P!nk goes old school and sings 18 Wheeler and Don’t let me get me. And after that one Leave me alone I’m lonely.
Before finishing she performs her ballad Nobody Knows. Again emotional and touching.
(*) She returns to sing one more song.. Get this party started combined with a few phrases of Sweet Dreams. “During this song she once again goes 30 feet in the air swinging and performing with other dancers on Cirque du Soleil-like ropes. To finish the song she spins sideways over the crowd at speeds enough to make the average person throw up all over the place!”
Included on the DVD are the behind the scenes "On the Road With P!nk" video that shows what it is really like to be on the road with P!nk, how I wish I could live just one day on the road with the Goddess, and a candid perspective of life on tour throughtout Europe.
I know it's a long review but with (*) are the videos I think are more important to watch and the best from this DVD.
With no doubts...
