The band started to get notoriety thanks to blogs like Stereogum and later to well reception by critics, being considered "Band of The Year" by Spin Magazine or in 2007, seeing their song Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa considered the 67th song of the year by the Rolling Stone Magazine.
Vampire Weekend is composed by four members: Ezra Koenig (singer and guitarist), Rostam Batmanglij (keyboards, guitar and backing vocals), Chris Tomson (drums and percussion) and Chris Baio (bass guitar and backing vocals).
Their name comes from a movie with the same name that Ezra Koenig and his friends made over a summer vacations, which Ezra plays the main character named Walcott, who has to go to Cape Cod to tell the mayor that vampires are coming (http://vimeo.com/28464).
The band had already played in major music festivals around the world like Glastonbury in Somerset,UK, T in The Park in Scotland and Oxygen Festival in Ireland.
They've released two albums - the self-titled Vampire Weekend in 2008, which they self-produced, and Contra in 2010 - that reached the number one on the UK and US album charts.
Cousins is the first single of Contra. The song was recorded by Vampire Weekend in Mexico City.
NME classified Contra with 8 stars of 10 and described the band as "one of the most unique bands on the planet.". Consequence of Sounds named it as the Best Album of 2010. Contra was number 6 on The Rolling Stone's list of the 30 Albums of 2010.
The music blog Stereogum describes the video as "quick, quirky, and unpredictable but not without a sense of humour about itself, so pretty much perfect for a band of Ivy Leaguers who aren't above self-satirizing their prepped up ways."

They're gonna find it if you didnt close the door.
You and this model sit outside the side-
In a house on a street they wouldnt park on the night."
