Fuck Yeah Music Stories:  We know you guys are from Toronto, how did Low Level Flight happen?
Low Level Flight
Low level flight actually came together back when myspace was still relevant.  Ryan was putting the band together and found some musicians online that shared similar music styles.  We got together jammed and wrote the first album in 6 months.

FYMS: Where does your band’s name Low Level Flight comes from? Is there any special reason for picking up that name?
LLF: The name Low Level Flight, was actually at lyric Ryan wrote in an old song that we never recorded.  We wish we had a sexier story but that is it hah.
FYMS: As a band, which are your biggest dreams?
LLF: Our biggest dreams happens everytime we hit the road or hop on a plane, we love to tour and we love to play live.  So we are thankful for every show we do no matter how big or small.  We look at our career in small step increments.  We are currently working on a release in UK and Europe so that is a big step for us as a band.
FYMS: Is there any artist or band you would like to impersonate for one day?
LLF: We have been lucky enough to play with some of our biggest inspirations, Interpol for one is a huge influence on our writing and playing.  We often cover their songs in our recording space so I guess to be them for one show would be pretty amazing.

FYMS: You released your second album, Through These Walls earlier this year. How is everything going with it? Which are the goals for this record?
LLF: The release of our new album Through These Walls has been great here in Canada, now we are focusing on international releases. Our goals for this album? That's tough, our only goal no matter what we are doing is to have people judge the band based on our music nothing more.  We have two top ten videos from this album already which is great but we don't put too much into that.
FYMS: You write your own songs. Where do you find that inspiration?
LLF:
We find inspiration in everything we do.  James and Ryan actually did an impromptu concert at Juhu Beach in Mumbai and took a lot from that experience to pen lyrics for tracks on the new album.  Ryan travels quite a bit and always takes something back with him, for example Exit was written about what Ryan saw while in Africa.  It deals with the hardship certain people have to deal with on a daily basis.
FYMS: We know you guys are trying to come to Europe. Which are your biggest expectations? Which are the countries you are most eager to know/visit in Europe?
LLF: Wow Europe is such an amazing place that to choose one country is hard.  We have been fortunate to travel quite a bit in Europe this year alone.  After spending a week in Berlin we fell in love with Germany and the people.  I think we all want to play Switzerland this coming April.  It's definitely in the works.
FYMS:  We are from Portugal, what do you know about this country?
LLF: Portugal is incredible, some of us have been there in the past, and the women are very gorgeous, the wine is amazing and the cities are vibrant. Ryan lives in Little Portugal here in Toronto ;)  We are looking forward to heading to Lisboa. We have fans in Portugal and we can't wait to meet them.
FYMS: Do you remember how you were on your first live performance? How did it go?
LLF: Our first performances we sloppy at best, as artists we grow every day and every album and every show.  Hopefully improving hah
(They've improved through years, right?)
FYMS: Which is the most surreal thing that ever happened to you, as a band?
LLF: The most surreal thing that has happened to us so far is tricky to pick just one.  Playing sold out shows in India, playing with Bon Jovi these are all milestones for us as a band, so it’s hard to pick just one.  However James our guitar player was left behind in Paris last month when we finished our tour, he lost his passport so I'm sure he had some surreal moments alone in the city of love.
FYMS: Which are the future projects for Low Level Flight?
LLF: We are always writing new material, we are currently working on tours in Europe and Asia for 2012, hopefully one of those dates will be in Portugal.
FYMS: Are there any secret talents that people don’t have any idea that you have?
LLF:
Hmm secret talents... James is actually an incredible drummer, and we switch Brandon to guitar during our show.   We are also very talented at finding our apartments in Europe after a night of heavy drinking...The Absinthe makes it difficult but we somehow always find our way back.  Is that a talent?

FYMS:  You are now having more and more fans. How is your relationship with them? Can you name the most awkward situation you had with a fan?
LLF:
We love our fans, we spend hours a day speaking with them online, it is very important to us to have a bond with our fans.  the fans are what keep us going, without their support we would not be a band.   We have had some awkward moments with a few fans, most memorable would have to be after our show in Pune, India.  We had set a record for most people in the venue during a show and we got rushed after the show trying to get off the stage.    We had never played there before and by the end of the night we needed security, India is a great place for music!
FYMS: Complete these sentences...
a) One Day...
LLF: ... LLF will be in Portugal to play for all of you!
b) The best thing people can say about us...
LLF: ... is that we are one of the hardest working bands in Canada
c) And the worst...
LLF: ... is that we are our worst critics
d) In ten years...
LLF: … we want to be on our 5th album and touring the world...
FYMS: Is there anything you would like to tell to FYMS readers?
LLF:
We love you guys, see you soon!
