Young The Giant, My Body

Young The Giant are an American alternative rock band from California created in 2004 and formed by Sammer Gadhia (lead vocals), Jacob Tilley (guitar), Eric Cannata (guitar), Payam Doostzadeh (bass guitar) and François Comtois (drums).

In 2009 they signed with the label Roadrunner Records and released their debut album Young The Giant in 2010.

After this line-up, when the band was still The Jakes, they had Ehson Hashemian and Jason Burguer, who left the band for several reasons. Maybe for that reason, they changed their name in December 2009, for the actual Young The Giant with Gadhia explaining that it was related with what the band wanted to portray "We are still youthful, but when we aren't, we still want to have that exuberance in our music."

They have already played with Marina And The Diamonds and New Politics.

Young The Giant's debut album was very well received by critics and the under-theme of the record is the "feeling of isolation and almost surreal happiness with a lover."

My Body - and two other songs: I Got and Strings were leaked individually prior to the album's digital release on October 26, 2010.

My Body was the first single taken from the album, released on January 10 2011.
The song was created on the end of a frustrating for the band. A few minutes of yelling non-sense things and jamming just to get the tension out the song was created, with Cannata saying "The dynamic between tension and liberation came from the very basic literal interpretation of the struggle we experienced directly before the creation of the song. It was a stroke of inspiration, and later appreciated insight, that cut through a relatively frustrating time for us as writers."

Gadhia told to Spinner.com that the song "really embodies Young The Giant: a combination of youthful energy and slightly naïve but optimistic determination. It captures a sense of passion, urgency and excitement that we've felt throughout the writing and recording process."

The band performed the song on the MTV Video Music Awards.

"Stop!
The train is riding
Down to the station where I lived,
When I was a cool kid.
"
