The festival happened last week on June 22 and 23. Starting on a windy but sunny summer day, the party started somewhere in the afternoon when some known Portuguese graffitti artists joined and painted some walls on Carcavelos beach - also known for being a good surf spot -, as a celebration of this edition of Festival MUSA Cascais and marking the beginning of Youth's Week in Cascais.
At the end of the afternoon, the crowd shyly started to arrive to the spot dedicated to celebrate music, but also promoting a sustainable lifestyle - just like their slogan says:
Both days of Festival MUSA Cascais counted with a huge variety of artists full of talent, power and will to give an incredible show!

Hello Atlantic: (8 pm) A band thought in Finland and inspired by the ocean. A nice way to begin this festival full of positive vibes. A folk with touches of ocean, everything sounded so nicely and fitted perfectly on the sunset ambience. The sweetness of the lyrics made all the show more than worth it, besides the really incredible musicians on stage.
A soft but extremely good tasted performance is exactly what you get from them. With a remarkable kindness and some sort of beauty, Hello Atlantic are an extraordinairy band with a bright future. Check a live performance whenever you can, you won't be disappointed... At all!
Viralata: (9 pm) A punk/rock band. On a first sight, they do not fit this festival's spirit. But you are totally wrong and they sure tricked us well.
"Energy!" The first word that comes to mind when we talk about such a band.
Besides the obvious energy, Viralata made a big performance. Their punk/rock mixed with elements of ska, made them a very suitable band to be part of the positive vibes of Musa.
Their social and political awareness plus a huge dose of sarcastic lyrics turn them into a great band to see and enjoy on live performances.
It's obvious each members endless energy and it's also clear how much they enjoy playing music and together!
Jimmy P: (10 pm) Vibrant, full of color and surprises.
This guy from Porto and his band are absolutely great, they are absolutely full of energy and you can expect anything but different from him, he is a true chameleon artist on stage and studio.
They are able to conquer every single person just for their cool vibe where they try to include everyone and make people feel at home. They really leave you open-mounthed.
The strong lyrics and vibrant music is also a great reason to see Jimmy P and his mates.
On this show, he also invited one of the greatest Portuguese rapper Valete to perform with him and it was really a big surprise.
It's very joyful to see such a talented Portuguese performers winning their space in the music world.
Protoje: (11.05 pm) What a great show! But I couldn't expect nothing less from such a talented artist who was able to connect with an audience, even with a big "barrier" that's the language.
Energy, pure reggae, joy and passion - Protoje showed why he is a big Jamaican name from reggae and why it's so worth seeing him.
After going to a show without knowing much about him, you leave with a hand full of reasons to see him again.
Etana: (00.10 am) Huge expectations to the Princess of reggae.
And thankfully she was able to exceed them. A solid band helped her shine and bright, pointing out all her talent and sweetness.
She is really a huge persona on stage and gladly the entire crowd enjoyed and proved her why we are such an incredible audience. To highlight the gorgeous and contagious Etana's smile during the entire performance.
She proved that you don't need strong lights or huge sound effects to give a gigantic show... All you need is talent and be able to connect deeply with the people in front of you.
A tremendously talented artist, with a extremely powerful voice and huge stage presence make Etana such a joyful and great artist to see on live shows.
After that. all the ingredients are set for an amazing show just like hers!
Turbulence: (01.35 am) He gave a big big show.
He was the most expected name of the night and he shows us why. Another big stage presence and a tremendous interaction with the audience and followed by a good bunch of musicians.
It's obvious how much he was expected - all the fans sang in one voice hiding Turbulence's voice sometimes.
With a great connection and awesome energy, the hours didn't trick neither the artist nor the fans.
A great show from a reggae artist with a "smell" of rock that made this first visit to our country a very promising one, hoping his return very soon.
Once again, GREAT energy, great connection, great vibe and great music.

The Hypers: (8 pm) A rock n' roll band with a very cool 70's look but a very modern and remarkable sound.
Besides all that oldies image, they are pretty good and really talented.
Although the crowd was yet small, the band's energy was impressive and The Hypers really showed their value.
Maybe the audience was expecting something else, maybe the band played a bit earlier but they are a gifted band and they really made their efforts to do a good show, which happened.
Three musicians were more than enough to start this second day on the best way. A big surprise.
The Stonewolf Band: (9 pm) A mix of many different genres, they are somewhere between rock, folk and some kind of alternative, reminding a bit of Bon Iver.
But comparing them to Bon Iver is just an easy way to say how talented and how great performers they are.
Sweetness and good music, it's what you can expect from them.
They have a bright future in front of them and I'm pretty sure that we all are going to listen more about The Stonewolf Band.
Chapa Dux: (10 pm) This Portuguese Reggae band is pretty remarkable.
With all members being around their twenties, they have a beautiful and powerful stage presence, incredible musicians and powerful songs that make everyone jump, sing and celebrate.
Their motto is "Be Strong" and we saw that on Musa. They really showed their talent, their youth recklessness but mostly why they are such a big hope in the Portuguese Reggae music.
Chapa Dux have experienced a lot already but they remain humble, genuine and strong and they reflect that on stage and on their music.
Can't wait to see them grow even bigger in this industry.
Mo'Kalamity & The Wizards: (11.05 pm) A great voice, talented band and a happy crowd.
Can you expect more from a band that is capable to achieve that?
On a softer reggae music, they added some color, some joy and grace to this day.
With a sovereign voice, very similar to Sade, she was pretty cool and she gave her everything to be as talented, as great as she is.
They were pleasent and made a very nice, delightful and clean performance.
Ijahman Levi: (00.25 am) With years of career, he did a very intense and noteworthy show.
Wearing the Jamaican colors, he had an animated crowd, who proved to know all the words and was really anxious to see him.
It was established why he keeps singing after all these years and how much fans he has in Portugal.
Nothing less than greatness is expected from him and he was able to do more than that.
Ijahman was really good and really convincing.
Anthony B: (01.55 am) Probably the biggest and the most expected name of this edition.
Joy, happiness... Anthony B have a huge show. He was constantly interacting with people, he won their hears and brighten them a bit more.
Singing songs like Bob Marley's Redemption Song or John Lennon's Imagine he remembered the roots, he was brave enough to sing a timeless songs and he did it so nicely.
He overcame all the expectations and everyone left his show with a very warm vibe.
Conclusion: This music festival, with environmental concerns, had big names, tremendously good performances and an exciting (but shy) crowd.
To music lovers, to adventurous and curious folks and to reggae people... Don't miss Musa because they really make every cent worth it and made it for everyone.
