White Lies, Farewell To The Fairground

White Lies are an English indie rock band, composed by Harry McVeigh (vocals and guitar), Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals) and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums). On live performances, they also count with Tommy Bowen and Rob Lee.

This young band created in 2007, counts with two albums: To Lose My Life... in 2009 and Ritual in 2011.
Nowadays, White Lies are working on their third album.

They are known for songs like Death, Bigger Than Us, To Lose My Life and Strangers.

The song Farewell To The Fairground belongs to their debut To Lose My Life... and was released as a single on March 2009.
To NME, the band explained this was one of the tracks that were written particularly quickly during the recording process. Check their Track by Track video for NME here.

Farewell To The Fairground is one of their more up-beat songs becoming a very exciting song to listen on their live performances and mostly for its content. I love when a song can be this mysterious and still so strong and somehow "funny".
Fighting, running, town and farewells are key-words for this song which describes it perfectly.
Sometimes running away seems to be the only solution and home is always a place where we can rely on, isn't it? So "Farewell To The Fairground" because "there's no place like home".

"Keep on running, keep keep on running,
there's no place like home, there's no place like home.
Farewell to the fairground, these rides aren't working anymore.
Goodbye to this dead town, until the ice begins to thaw."
