Capital Cities are responsible from one of the hit songs of this summer.
Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian are the people behind this indie pop project, who was officially formed around 2009.
In the beginning of their career, they composed music to advertising campaigns and commercials. Later in 2011, they formed Capital Cities and start working on their music project and their homonymous EP was released in June 2011.
Two years later, they released their first album In a Tidal Wave of Mystery.
Safe And Sound was initially released in February 2011 and re-released on April 25, 2013.
There was a previous version of this single's video released on February 24, 2011 featuring clips of dancing and war organised in chronological order.
The official second video was released on April 25, 2013. Directed by Grady Hall, this video mashes-up the evolution of dance from the past 100 years, being recorded at the recently restored Los Angeles Theater.
This video won the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards in the category of Best Visual Effects.
Safe And Sound is upbeat, energetic and brings the best in everyone. Besides being really catchy thanks to the symphonic and epic sax rhythm and the electronic drums, the sweetness of the vocals are capable of embracing us on this 100-year-old-dance-journey.
