We all know this guy because of Over the rainbow.
But here we have some facts that I didn't know and found interesting to share:
- Israel Kamakawiwoʻole was born in 1959 and died in 1997 (38 years old). He died of weight-related respiratory illness.
- He was a popular Hawaiian musician, still remains one of the major influences in Hawaiian music.
- He did a medley of Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World presented in this post.
- In October 2010, following its use on a TV advertisement - Over the rainbow - hits #1 on the German singles chart. It was the number one seller single of 2010.
- 4 more albums were released after his death,. The last one is a compilation album of what is considered to be his best songs.
