The 25-year-old American singer's artistic name is a combination between Hollywood actress Lana Turner and Ford Del Rey.
From New York, Lana revealed she wanted to have a name that sounded more exotic and reflected the old Hollywood glamour of her music "Lana Del Rey just sounded good coming out of my mouth – it was exotic sounding, and I like exotic places and I like really gorgeous things. It sounded like a gorgeous woman. And once you have a name, you expect certain things from it (...)"
In 2009, she released an EP "Kill Kill" under the name Lizzy Grant.
Video Games is her debut single released on October 10 by Interscope Records, that also includes Lana Del Rey's other hit Blue Jeans.
On August 3, Pitchfork named "Best New Track".
The video was edited by Lana herself using several videos of skateboarders, cartoons, shots from old videos and self-filmed shot of herself singing.
