I know this song is very popular and quite old but I heard this song today on the radio and found the lyrics very interesting.
Stuck in a Moment You Can't Get Out Of is the second single from U2's album, All That You Can't Leave Behind, released in 2000. It won in 2002 the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
Bono wrote this song about the suicide of an old friend and characterized the song as a fight between friends, which he felt guilty for never having with his friend.
There were made 2 videos for this song. This one was directed by Kevin Godley and shows Bono being thrown out of a van several times - stuck in a moment. At the end of the video the rest of the band helps him getting up.
On 23 July 2011, Bono and Edge performed an acoustic version of this song and althought Bono explained to whom the song was written they dedicated the performance to Amy Whinehouse, who had passes away a few hurs earlier thar day.
I never thought you were a fool
But darling, look at you
You gotta stand up straight, carry your own weight
These tears are going nowhere, baby
You've got to get yourself together
You've got stuck in a moment and now you can't get out of it
Don't say that later will be better now you're stuck in a moment
And you can't get out of it
I will not forsake, the colours that you bring
But the nights you filled with fireworks
They left you with nothing
I am still enchanted by the light you brought to me
I still listen through your ears, and through your eyes I can see
