themed week // Radiohead, Creep

After Queen, another English band will be part of this Themed Week's category Songs that Marked the Humanity, at some point or somehow.

Radiohead are an English alternative rock band with electronic influences, created in 1985.

Known for songs like Karma Police, Lotus Flower or Fake Plastic Trees, the band is composed by Thom Yorke (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (guitars, keyboards, some more), Ed O'Brien (guitars, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion).

With 8 studio albums released - Pablo Honey (1993), The Bends (1995), OK Computer (1997), Kid A (2000), Amnesiac (2001), Hail To The Thief (2003), In Rainbows (2007) and The King Of Limbs (2011) - besides two compilations, one remix album, seven EPs and several singles.

Creep was the first single taken from Pablo Honey and according to Colin Greenwood, Thom Yorke wrote the song while he was studying at Exeter University in the 80's and Jonny Greenwood said the song was inspired by a girl that Yorke had a crush with and unexpectedly appeared on a show.

The song has a love-hate relationship in the band, at some point on their live performances fans would only request Creep so around 1998 during their OK Computer tour they drop the song only recovering it in 2001 and performing it once in a while.

"I don't care if it hurts

I wanna have control
I wanna a perfect body
I wanna a perfect soul
I want you to notice
When I'm not around"
