Electronic Arts - #14 Preto:Preto:Preto (Interview)

Today I'll post about a mysterious Portuguese group Preto:Preto:Preto that have made a remix for Os Pontos Negros. But they will reveal about themselves.

FYMS: Hi Preto:Preto:Preto, please describe yourselves...
Preto:Preto:Preto: So this is the first time we get to do this.We are three friends with a background on rock and hardcore music, but we are also huge lovers of dance music, so we decided to do it togheter. Well ususally, most of the DJs/Producers are focused on some genre, like house or electro, but we don't care about it. We just do whatever we like.


FYMS: Now a hard one. Favourite track ever?
Preto:Preto:Preto: Ahah I honestly don't have one.It depends of the hour of the day and of what's happening around me in that time


FYMS: Or if you prefer: A track that made you say: "Let's do music like this"...
Preto:Preto:Preto: Ahahahahahah. There are so many. Because all of our songs are different and come from different "places". Usually we listen to a lot of different types of music to get inspiration. We could listen to a major Pop hit to found a good arpeggiator or listen to some Post-Dubstep tracks to listen to some good bass lines. It would be easier to say what we've been listening lately...and I think we would all say TEED, Mount Kimbie and James Blake.


FYMS: Now let's talk about your remix, your debut track. Ideas, inspirations, what was your purpose?



Preto:Preto:Preto: We are friends with Os Pontos Negros, and when I first heard the riff of their song I thought that It could be some kind of post-dubstep track. So the two boys in the group got together do remix this track. It was the first time we did something with a post-dubstepish vibe, we don't know if we got it right but we love what we did for it. We actually had a really good inspiration that came from a different place and it's called Africa. We wanted to make it in a Post-Dubstep vibe but give it some African roots in the percussion area.


FYMS: Are you planning on playing live, do some dj set's or what?
Preto:Preto:Preto: We are planning that. But first we are more focused on writing our debut EP. That's a question that has some future surprises ahah.I guess it will take a while until we make DJ-sets together.
We are still learning how to "DJ" properly, but we can't wait to play our music live.
