To the Australian publication Sunday Herald Sun, Chris Martin spoke about the song that was releases as single late January 23:
"We have a song called 'Charlie Brown', which was the centrepiece of this other record we started first... We were playing the riff on an accordion and Guy came in one morning and said 'I'm afraid I have to put my foot down. I don't want to speak out of turn, but I will not allow this song to be played on an accordion - that has to go in with the Mylo bunch'. So then we thought - let's just make one album."The song was inspired by the comic strip Peanuts, whose protagonist is a boy named Charlie Brown. During the writing and recording sessions of Mylo Xyloto, the song had other names like Cartoon Heart or Cartoon Head ended up to be titled as Charlie Brown.
The official video for Charlie Brown was filmed with director Mat Whitecross using the Xylobands conceptual creation for the Mylo Xyloto tour and posted yesterday on Coldplay's twitter.
