The Black Keys, Gold On The Ceiling

The Black Keys are an American rock band composed by Dan Auerbach, on vocals and guitars and Patrick Carney, on drums.
The duo, on live performances, counts with Gus Seyffert, on bass guitar and vocals and John Wood on keyboards, guitars, vocals and percussion.

Created in 2001 and after being labeled by the indie label Alive, they've released seven studio albums The Big Come Up in 2002, Thickfreakness in 2003, Rubber Factory in 2004, Magic Potion in 2006, Attack & Release in 2008, Brothers in 2010 and El Camino in 2011.

Their last El Camino was recorded in Nashville at Easy Eye Sound Studio, opened by Dan Auerbach in 2010. Highly influenced by different genres like glam rock, rockabilly or rock n' roll, citing names like The Clash, The Cars and The Beatles, contrasting the slower songs of Brothers.
With very positive critics and incredibly well-received by audience, El Camino received its name after the Chevrolet El Camino. The inspiration for the album appeared while driving in their tour bus in Canada in 2010, being mentioned "as a joke".
On an interview for The Colbert Nation, they explained "El Camino is Spanish for "the road" or "the path". The band found out the phrase's meaning after selecting it as an album title, and they joked about the record taking on deeper meaning afterwards."

Michael Carney, Patrick's brother and the Black Keys art director, was initially hesitant about the record's title. Patrick recounted the conversation with his brother to Nashville Scene:
"I told my brother the idea and my brother was like, "You know, if you name the record El Camino, everybody's going to think of the car the El Camino." And I was like, "Yeah exactly. That's the fucking point!" And he was like, "OK, but why don't we just put a car on the cover that's not an El Camino?" And I said, "OK, what kind of car?" He says, "Just put the first car you guys ever toured in on the cover.""

And the record's cover image came up being Plymouth Grand Voyager - the first tour car which they toured for a year and a half.

Gold On The Ceiling was the second single taken from the record and released on February 25, 2012.
On this year's MTV Movie Awards, The Black Keys counted with the winner of the Generation award Johnny Depp to perform with them, check it here.

"Clouds covered love's
Barbed-wire stairs
Strung up, strung out
I just can't go without
I could never drown"
