themed week // Radiohead, Fake Plastic Trees

My last choice is going to be Radiohead.

Radiohead are one of the most recognized English bands created in 1985.
Having Thom Yorke (vocals, guitars, keyboards), Jonny Greenwood (guitars, keyboards, some more), Ed O'Brien (guitars, backing vocals), Colin Greenwood (bass) and Phil Selway (drums, percussion) and together  they have released eight albums, two compilations, a remix album and seven EPs.
Read more about them on our previous posts here, here or on Mike Bek's Electronic Arts post dedicated to Radiohead remix album.

Fake Plastic Trees is the third single taken from The Bends - album released in 1995, and talking about an area in East London named Canary Wharf which landscape has a lot of artificial plants.
This song is a big mark on this band's career because it changed their characteristic grunge sound - marked by Creep - and made them so different and creative for being able to stay as Radiohead but with new approaches.
Thom Yorke, once said this song is "the product of a joke that wasn't really a joke, a very lonely, drunken evening and, well, a breakdown of sorts".

Radiohead are probably the biggest name of this edition of Optimus Alive, solding out that day a few weeks ago. Those you will have the chance to see them live, remind you will be envy by many and you will be part of a ten year-break on their performances in Portugal. With their strong shows, different sound and so powerful lyrics they are really a MUST SEE band.
