Playlist Spotify: Outubro/2014 - por Miguel Vieira da Rocha

O Miguel é atualmente o baixista da banda From Kids To Heroes, banda pop-punk formada em 2012 que se prepara para lançar o seu primeiro álbum, mas a sua história no mundo da música começou há alguns anos atrás. Com 15 anos começou a tocar baixo para formar uma banda com 2 amigos seus. Até aos dias de hoje foi "coleccionando" bandas que acabariam por durar pouco mais de um mês. Dos estilos que já tocou destacam-se o metal, hardcore e punk.

O FYMS convidou-o para fazer a playlist Spotify do mês de Outubro.

Quando perguntámos ao Miguel se queria fazer a playlist do FYMS para o mês de Outubro propusemos-lhe um desafio: A maioria das músicas da playlist não poderiam ser do estilo que toca.
O resultado? O resultado passa por uma playlist que conta com 25 músicas com bandas e artistas muitos distintos: John Mayer, Demi Lovato, Paramore, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy e como não poderia deixar não falharam alguns nomes portugueses: Ash is Robot, Viralata, The Black Mamba e Sam Alone.

O Abominável, Nada Passa Sem Ficar

O Abominável are a Portuguese rock alternative band created in 2010 and is composed by Vítor Pinto (songwriter and vocals), David Félix (bass guitar), João Losa (guitars) and Rui Correia (drums).

Their first EP named Que Só o Amor me Estrague, produced by Davide Lobão, was released on January 11, 2013.

O Abominável is heavily composed by strong rock sonorities, with a few glimpses of punk but giving a big meaning to the lyrics and feelings.
Nada Passa Sem Ficar can be seen as a poetic composition with a very emotional and hurt feeling behind it that really contrasts with their strong rock sounds, giving them a very interesting approach to these kind of feelings.
It's a very interesting song - showing off their talent and giving big prospects for their future.

The video is about a character and a very personal (but fictional) exploration of fears.

Recently, they appeared on the 19th edition of the "new talent"- Festival Termómetro.

Anarchicks - Restraining Order

Anarchicks get together in 2001 to make a revolution. The magic formula?! Four girls. They are:

• Pris, aka Playgirl (vocals, bass and synth), founder of the electronic project Press Play, played bass and synth in U-Clic and is currently parto f the Ilplaygirl project;
• Helena aka Synthetique Red who plays the bass, synth and also sings. She was the founder of Mediatic Slaves, and was also bassist/keyboardist of different projects and is currently part of After101 (a music electronic project);
• Catarina aka Katari, the drummer. Played in Act of Anger and Living Dead Act. Recently, collaborated with JESUS K & the sicksicksicks and is nowadays drummer and vocalist of CASAL VENTOSO.
• Ana aka JD, in guitar and bass, she was the founder member (as a drummer) of Random Notes, a Funk project, guitarist in Too Much To Touch and currently plays in a tribute band to The Beatles, Oh! Darling, as guitarrist and keyboardist.

Restraining Order is the first music to be released as the first single of their first album – Really?! - to be released in the end of January by Chifre, an independent editor. It was recorded by Blacksheepstudios by Makoto Wagyu (Paus, If Lucy Fell) and Fábio Jevelim (Riding Pânico), and mixed by Pedro Chamorra (Voxels).

Musket, So Tired

Musket is a young Portuguese band, based in Lisbon, composed by three boys: Ricardo (drums), Tomás (bass) and Miguel (guitars), the last two are the singers, changing between songs.

Initially Miguel and Ricardo practised on a small garage but soon Tomás came up and they had to move to a proper rehearsal room, in 2008.
Only two years after they found the perfect four songs to be recorded and that would be included on their first EP - Musket EP, released in early 2011.

According with the band, their creative writing comes from improvise and freely, none of them brings anything from home, they just join together on the rehearsal room and "goes with the flow" until they find something they think it's worth their time and might be used for some song.

But like everything, there are exceptions. So Tired their first single was thought and partly created at home by Miguel and Tomás, during last Summer. For being so different, so peculiar and so promising this song was chosen to be their presentation single, creating a bridge between their EP and their first record, predicted to be released somewhere in next year.
So Tired was a collaboration between Musket and Corvo Records, masterized by Henrique Albuquerque and Rui Pereira. The artwork was ccreated by Núria Murilhas.

Gossip, Heavy Cross

Gossip are an American indie rock band created in 1999.
The actual members are Beth Ditto (vocals and piano), Nathan "Brace Paine" Howdeshell (guitar and bass) and Hannah Blilie (drums), the last one replacing Kathy Mendonça who left the band in 2003.

Gossip's sonority is a mix between indie rock and dance-punk. They are known for songs like Pop Goes The World, Listen Up and Love Long Distance.

The band released 4 EP's - The Gossip (1999), Arkansas Heat (1999), Real Damage (2005) and GSSP RMX (2006) and 4 studio albums - That's Not What I Heard (2001), Movement (2003), Standing In The Way Of Control (2006) and Music For Men (2009).

Music For Men was released on June 29, 2009 by Columbia Records.
The initial critical response was positive, but some criticized the "loud" sound quality of the album.

Heavy Cross is the first single taken from Music For Men and according to Ditto on an interview with NME this song is "I know so many amazing people who devote their lives to undoing things, and I feel that's the essence of punk now because punk's already been done, it's old. It's about recreation and my friends, who I feel like are the ultimate creative re-creators."
Released on April 28, 2009 the single was considered on September 2010 the "most successful internationally produced single" of all times.

News // My Chemical Romance fire Drummer Mike Pedicone

My Chemical Romance have fired their drummer, Mike Pedicone after he was "caught red-handed stealing from the band" after their gig on September 1, in Auburn, Washington.
Without entering into many details the band made a small press release on their official website.

"(...) But please listen close because this is the only time we are ever going to talk about this. The relationship between My Chemical Romance and Michael Pedicone is over. He was caught red handed stealing from the band and confessed to police after our show last night in Auburn, Washington. We are heartbroken and sick to our stomachs over this entire situation. The band has no intention of pressing charges or taking this matter any further than we have to. We just want him out of our lives. The people who play in this band are a family, and family should not take advantage of each other like he did. (...)"


On the release they confirm that Pedicone admitted everything to the local police. Besides everything the band won't press any charges and want to leave everything in the past.
On that same press release, they confirm that everything ended between MCR and Michael Pedicone.

Michael Pedicone explained on his personal twitter that  "what happened is more complicated than it sounds but I did make a mistake" and the situation was "an error in judgment based on a whole other situation that's way deeper but this does not define me."

Dead Country's Jarrod Alexander is the new drummer of My Chemical Romance.

My Chemical Romance, Planetary (Go!)

From their latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, Planetary (Go!) has a much more frenetic and enthusiastic background when compared with the other songs, more electronic and with a very different song beginning. The album was well received by critics and in general the score is average, which is not bad for the genre of this band.
This song was released as their third single in March 2011,
On this album the band members have alter-egos - the four Killjoys: "Party Poison" (Gerard Way), "Jet Star" (Ray Toro), "Fun Ghoul" (Frank Iero), and "Kobra Kid" (Mikey Way).
