Gary Portnoy - Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Where Everybody Knows Your Name was written by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo and performed by Gary Portnoy. In the 80s it was the theme song for the comedy television series Cheers.

But only in 2004 the full-lenght version of this song was released along with Gary's album, Keeper.

In 2010, Portnoy released his original demo recording of the Cheers theme (with the original lyrics).

In a 2011 Readers Poll in Rolling Stone magazine, Where Everybody Knows Your Name was voted the best television theme of all time.

But how did I discovered this song?
With this new prom for the new season of CSI (on AXN Portugal) - I couldn't find the video.

All those nights when you've got no lights, the check is in themail
And your little angel hung the cat up by it's tail
And your third fiance didn't show....
....SOMETIMES YOU WANNA GO

Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You wanna be where you can see, all troubles are all the same
You wanna go where everybody knows your name...

themed week // Glee, Rolling In The Deep (Adele)

This themed week, as you can check on our schedule happens on the first week of each month - is going to be related with Glee series and their songs.
Each day for 7 days I'm going to share my choices covered by the musical series Glee, based on performance, creativity, characters.
For your own judgment, I'll be sharing the Glee version and the original one.
My first choice is an original by 23-years-old british singer and recent success Adele, appearing on Season 2 episode 20 related with Prom night, this song is a duet between Rachel (Lea Michele) and Jesse (Jonathan Groff).

Glee Version:

Original version by Adele

Leave us your opinion. Which you prefer, Glee or Adele?

Love,

Grey's Anatomy

No don’t worry. This is still a music blog. But today I’m going to talk about Grey’s Anatomy and its last episode called Song Beneath The Song. If you watch regularly or have seen some episodes you know it’s a series with a lot of songs during each one and the music selected often has a highly emotional tinge and it’s played during extremely dramatic parts of the episodes. This time they decided to do a sort of musical.

I didn’t know it would be this king of episode when I started to watch it today. It was a surprise, but a good one. It was different, didn’t have the quality of a professional musical but this was a great episode. And they can actually sing. Although Sara Ramirez (who plays Torrez) has a Tony Award. And Chandra Wilson (Bailey) has been on Broadway too before and so have some of the others, I think they made a good effort, because they are actors, not signers. And we must admmit some people are professional singers, sell a lot of CDs, do huge tours and they don't sing half of what this cast sang.

They covered:
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
The Fray – How to save a life
Get Set Go – Wait
Kate Havnevik – Grace
Gomez – How we operate
Jesus Jackson - Running on Sunshine
Anna Nalick - Breathe (2 AM)
Brandi Carlile - The Story

"If Glee, and E.R. had a baby it would be tonight's episode of the medical drama “Grey's Anatomy”  titled “Song Beneath the Song," wrote  The Journal's Lyneka Little.

Capshaw, who performed KT Tunstall's "Universe & U,” told the Hollywood Reporter before it aired: “There were many times where I felt like, ‘Oh my gosh, we're doing the best episode of Grey's Anatomy ever. And there were other times where I thought, ‘Did we drink the Kool-Aid and we're all terrible?’ ”

Sara Ramirez singing “The Story”:

(I like this woman much more now. So talented. So full of strengh.)

Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
Yeah you do and I was made for you

You see the smile that's on my mouth
Is hiding the words that don't come out
