Adele - Turning tables

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins known as Adele, is an English singer-songwriter.
Adele was born in Tottenham, north London. At the age of 11, she and her mother moved to West Norwood in South London.
After moving to South London, she became interested in R&B artists such as Destiny's Child and Mary J Blige. Adele's interest in soul grow with a visit to the HMV store on London's Oxford Street (let me say I was in that store last summer :D).

Adele graduated from The BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology in Croydon in May 2006 where one of her classmates was Leona Lewis. In school, she was more interested in going into A&R( means Artists and repertoire which is the division of a record label that is responsible for talent scouting and overseeing the artistic development of recording artists. It also acts as a liaison between artists and the record label.), and hoped to launch other people's careers.
She had recorded a three-song demo for a class project and gave it to a friend who posted it on MySpace where it became very successful and led to a phone call from music label XL Recordings.  It’s quite funny because she thought the call wasn’t real because the only record company she knew was Virgin Records, and she took a friend with her to the meeting.

Her first album, Hometown Glory released on October 2007, entered the British charts at number one. The Times Encyclopedia of Modern Music would name 19 an "essential" Blue Eyed Soul recording.
At the 51st Grammy Awards in 2009, Adele won awards in the categories of Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. She was also nominated in the categories of Record of the Year and Song of the Year.  Adele was also nominated for three Brit Awards in the categories of Best British Female, Best British Single and Best British Breakthrough Act.
Adele relaunched the MTV Unplugged series with a six song acoustic set in June.
In 2010, Adele received a Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Hometown Glory".

Adele released her second studio album, 21, on 24 January 2011 in the UK.
The album's sound is described as classic and contemporary roots and country music. The change in sound from her first album was the result of her bus driver playing contemporary Nashville music when she was touring the American South. Adele told Spin Magazine that "He listened to all this amazing country music and we'd rock out late at night, chain smoking and listening to Rascal Flatts" "It was really exciting for me because I never grew up around [that music]."

In mid-February 2011, after a performance at the Brit Awards, You can see the performance here (I remember one of my best friends showed me this song and I was like "Uh... I don't like her." who knew I would like her this much), the album track Someone Like You went straight to number 1 on the UK singles chart, while the album 21 also remained at number 1. The Official Charts Company stated that Adele was the first living artist to achieve the feat of two top five hits in both the Official Singles Chart and the Official Albums Chart simultaneously since The Beatles in 1964.

Adele's success occurred simultaneously with several other British female soul singers. The British press has dubbed her a new Amy Winehouse. (Personal comment: WTF?)

Many of the songs on her hit album 21 were inspired by a break-up (just need to pay attention to the lyrics and you cna easily understand that) with her boyfriend. "He was artistic, but not romantic," she says. "We'd just bicker over a cup of tea or the fact that my lighter wasn't working." Nonetheless, Adele says, "He made me an adult and put me on the road that I'm traveling on."

I love seeing Katy Perry's boobs and bum. Love it. But that's not what my music is about. I don't make music for eyes. I make music for ears. (That's what I'm talking about!!! Ahahahha! The 1st day you start talking bad things about P!nk, our relationship is over.)

So I won't let you close enough to hurt me
No, I won't ask you, you to just desert me
I cant give you, what you think you gave me
It's time to say goodbye to turning tables

A.
