R.E.M., Man On The Moon

R.E.M. are a very successful band from the 80's.
Yesterday, the band announced the end of 31 years full of hits and stories.

Man On the Moon appears on one of the most successful and known R.E.M. album Automatic For The People, released in 1992.

Man On The Moon was written with numerous references about the conspiracy theory that the American moon landing was fake and the song also talks about the actor/performer Andy Kaufman, including in the video his Elvis Presley's performance.
There were some rumors that Andy Kaufman had faked his death, probably thanks to his dramatic way to create false stories to the medias.

This song gave the name to a movie based on Kaufman's life, released in 1999 starring Jim Carrey, Courtney Love and Danny DeVito. Man On The Moon was used on the movie's soundtrack.
