Leah LaBelle, Lolita

Leah LaBelle was one of my most recent discoveries.

This twenty-six-year-old Canadian singer participated in the third season of American Idol and nowadays she is recording her debut album, set to be release in late 2013.
Leah also got notability while posting cover videos on youtube.

Leah LaBelle has released two songs, so far: Sexify and Lolita, both produced by Pharrell Williams.
While, Sexify is the "classic" R&B song, way too similar to artists like Alicia Keys - and we don't need another one, bringing nothing new.
But Lolita prevails for being so different and unique. It's exciting, fresh and makes eager to see the next steps of this young singer.

Lolita is a upbeat song, full of drama but most of all, it shows her power, her groove and her intensity in music. Lolita is the perfect presentation card to Leah LaBelle.

Kelly Clarkson - Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)

This is a song from the very well known singer Kelly Clarkson. She met the spotlight when winning the contest - American Idol (season 1) - where she sung a beautiful and strong song called A Moment Like This.


This song is the second single from Kelly Clarkson's fifth album, Stronger. 


The writers of the song were probably inspired by Friedrich Nietzsche quote: That which does not kill us makes us stronger. (You've already heard it for sure)

First of all let me say this is one of those songs that I don’t know why I like it so much.

But I have a clue: the lyrics.

Whenever we are going through a tough time there is always someone telling us that we are strong enough to deal with it, that we are gonna make it. Well what people also know is, at least after dealing with it, that going trough certain things makes us stronger than ever. Maybe it’s supposed to hurt to be stronger, I don’t know. But speaking from my own experience, whenever I’m down I get back better than I was before. I think we discover more about ourselves – how strong we are – when difficult obstacles appear in our way. It could another cliche but it's not. It's true. Be strong, things get better, eventually.

themed week // Adam Lambert, Better Than I Know Myself

Adam Lambert is a young artist from the US who's career started in 2009 after participating on American Idol.

With one album released For Your Entertainment in 2009, Lambert got known on his solo career with hits like Whataya Want From Me, If I Had You and For Your Entertainment.

On his work we can also see on several compilations, EPs and a live album.

On March 20, Lambert is going to release his next album Trespassing and describe it has "an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It's been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I've experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality."

The first single from Trespassing is an electronic pop ballad Better Than I Know Myself, about romantic regret and "a lover who knows you inside and out".

Showing the gifted Lambert's voice and a powerful instrumental, the presentation single is a good invitation to his new record.

1 per week - Miley Cyrus live @ American Idol 2010

This could be one of those polemic posts, but I don't want it to be.

Today is the second time I'm going to share a video that shows a outrageous performance of a young singer, Miley Cyrus.





Once again, it's not about the artist. I can recogn that Miley has some talent, but in this performance she can't reach any of the notes she was supposed to according to the studio version.

What's the point of doing a song and sell a lot of CDs and be a huge star, when singing live she makes 'this'?!
I like those artists that give something extra on their shows. Where you can actually hear that you're paying for something more than what you can hear at home when playing their CD.
It's only my opinion, but the minimum is hearing what's on the CD and not a worse version of it.

themed week // Glee, No Air (Jordin Sparks + Chris Brown)

No Air is a very nice cover originally sang by Jordin Sparks featuring Chris Brown, respectively represented in Glee by Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith).
The song appeared on the first season, on episode 7 - "Throwdown".

Jordin Sparks was the 2007 winner of American Idol and since than she never stopped. Collecting hits one after another, "No Air" on her golden self-titled first album released in November 2007.
