Regina Spektor - Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas)

Regina Spektor was born in Moscow, in 1980 on a musical Russian jewish family. Due to the discrimination the Jews were facing on that time, her family emigrated first to Austria, then to Italy and finally entered the US as refugees.
Orginally, Spektor was interest in classic music but then her interest spread to hip hop, rock and punk. Nowadays her music goes around indiem folk, pop and jazz.

It doesn't feel natural for me to write some diary type song. I want to write a classic like Yesterday but weird songs about meatballs in refrigerators come into my head - I can't help it.

Until now, Spektor’s discography counts with 6 albums, been the last one released in last year and called What We Saw from the Cheap Seats. Don't Leave Me (Ne Me Quitte Pas) was released as the second single of the album. The song, as the title suggests,is sung in English and French. It is a new version of Ne me quitte pas, that was orinally in Spektor's 2002 album, Songs.

Regina will be touring in Europe in Aughust.

News // Three More Confirmations on Super Bock Super Rock

Three confirmations and three different nationalities - The North-American The Rapture, the English Bloc Party and the Portuguese Capitão Fausto are the newest names on the 18th edition of Super Bock Super Rock, happening between July 5 to 7.

On the first day, July 5, Bloc Party - who recently return to stages and Capitão Fausto - are presenting their first album Gazela released in the end of 2011.

On July 6, The Rapture are performing their album In The Grace Of Your Love released in 2011.

A daily ticket is able for purchase for 45€ and a three-day pass for 80€.
The festival has confirmed bands/artists like Lana Del Rey, The Horrors, Incubus and Regina Spektor.

More names have been added to the Portuguese Super Bock Super Rock 2012 edition.

Bat For Lashes, Alabama Shakes and Regina Spektor (on the picture above) are the most recent confirmations on the festival that is going to happen in Meco, near Sesimbra.

A daily ticket is 45€ and a three-day pass (including camping, starting on July 4) is 80€. The tickets are already available for purchase.

Regina Spektor, Us

Regina Spektor is a russian-american artist, born in Moscow, in February 18th 1980.
Both her parents are musicians - her father is a photographer but also a amateur violinist, and her mother a music teacher.
She grew up listening The Beatles, Queen and The Moody Blues, thanks to her father and the albums they brought from Russia. They left the country when Regina was nine years old, during the Perestroika period, when it was fine to Jew citizens to leave the country. On that time, Regina had to leave her piano behind. 
Passing through Austria, Italy and finally USA, Regina made two years on Frisch School and another two on Fair Lawn High School, where she finished her studies.
On the beginning, Regina only cared for classical music, but than started to interest in Hip-hop, rock and punk.


Starting her career has a composition, Regina studied classical piano with Sonia Vargas, in New York. She was declared intellectually gifted.
Regina always made her music at home, but since a visit to Nesiya Institute, in Israel during her adolescence, when she realized her aptitude to write music. After that same trip, she saw the work of Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco and other song-writers and realized it was possible to make her own music. She wrote her first musics when she was sixteen years old, and her first songs (music + vocals) when she was eighteen. 
She accomplished the Studio Composition program of four years from the Musical Conservatory in Purchase College, in three years, receiving honors in 2001. On the same time, she worked in Wisconsin and studied in Tottenham, England for a semester.
Time by time, she was starting to get recognized through her performances, on the city of New York, East Village's Sidewalk Cafe, but also in Living Room, Tonic, Fez, Knitting Factory and CB Gallery. She sold cd's of those performances: 11:11 (2001) and Songs (2002).


She already toured with The Strokes, Kings of Leon and Keane.
