themed week // P!nk, I Don't Believe You

This is a really special Themed Week that I'm going to dedicate to love songs (probably, the most unlikely  - or less immediate - ones), check everything about this specific themed week but clicking on the ash tag below love songs.

Pink (or P!nk) is the artistic name for the pop/rock artist Alecia Beth Moore who's career started in 1995.
P!nk is known for songs like Get The Party Started, Dear Mr. President, So What? or Raise Your Glass. and recently, Just Give Me A Reason - counting with Nate Ruess (better known as the singer from Fun.)

Along her career, she has released five studio albums: Can't Take Me Home (2000), Missundaztood (2001), Try This(2003), I'm Not Dead (2006), Funhouse (2008) and The Truth About Love (2012), besides a compilation Greatest Hits... So Far!!! released in 2010.

I Don't Believe You is a love song taken from her 2008 record Funhouse co-written with Max Martin, which, and according to P!nk's words, it's a song about reconciliation and her favorite from the record "because it's just so naked. It's like taking a deep breathe and saying: 'Here I am. Take me. Take your best shot'". On another time, she also added "(...) Actually in the control room listening to this song, tears running down my face, just like 'fuck, really?'. It's the vulnerable weak side of me that I don't let out very often. (...)".

It's a great song and one of the most romantic songs by this great artist. It's an incredible and truly surprising song that really gets to you, when listened carefully. 

P!nk - Blow Me (One Last Kiss)

A few days ago P!nk's new single was released in her website. It's the first single of her new album and it's called Blow Me (One Last Kiss). It was written by her and the producer Greg Kurtin. The new single will hit radio on July 9.

Two days ago, P!nk was on Australia's Today Show in an interview on the set of her music video for her new single.

In between she reveals the name of the next album called The Truth About Love and states that it is about all the loves (young, wiser, sober, drunker...) , all the colors and it's not cheesy. If she says so, we have to believe it!

Finally, last month P!nk announced on a video posted on her website that we all could expect a new single from her on July 9. In it P!nk says: I think you're going to like it, because I really like it, and I like it enough for all of us. Check it out:

P!nk - Disconnected

This song is the B-side of P!nk's most known song Who Knew, from her 4th album, I'm Not Dead (2006).

It's a very energetic and catchy song, with a powerful meaning behind.

The lyrics speak for themself.

P!nk - Don't Let Me Get Me

I was missing talking about P!nk and a friend wanted me to talk about one of her songs so here it goes…

Don't Let Me Get Me is one of the songs that made P!nk so popular. It was released in 2002 as the second single of her album M!ssundaztood (2001) and is also in her 2010 album Greatest Hits... So Far!!!.
It’s a pop rock song and it reached number six in the UK, number eight in the U.S.

There were several critics to this song, as usual, but I find this one from Jason Thompson of PopMatters very interesting:
On the power rock of “Don’t Let Me Get Me”, Pink herself tells it like it is and attempts to break free from the image making machine. “Tired of being compared / To damn Britney Spears / She’s so pretty / That just ain’t me”. Well, that’s debatable in itself, but the fact that Pink takes it upon herself to call Spears out should be nothing short of revelatory. Spears certainly has nothing on Pink in the vocal department. Pink can actually sing. And damn well, mind you.

People that have seen some videos where she talks about her life as a teen know that that time was quite hard for her. Her parents got divorced; she was on drugs and she was what we commonly call a “rebel”. This song talks about many issues that teens deal with and that P!nk herself had to pass through. I would divide this song into 3 pats:

• The first part she sings about not liking who you are, thinking your parents hate you - maybe because they got divorced or because they didn't let her do what she wanted, don't know what to do with life..
• The second part is about her career. LA was the one that discovered her and made her famous, although he wanted her to be something she wasn't - another Britney AKA popstar.
• The last part is about a solution.
