Matchbox Twenty, She's So Mean

Matchbox Twenty are a band formed in Orlando, Florida in 1995 and is nowadays composed by Rob Thomas (vocals, piano and rhythm guitar), Kyle Cook  (lead guitar and banjo), Brian Yale (bass guitar) and Paul Doucette (drums and percussion).

The band is also known for big hits like Unwell, Push and Disease.

They've released four studio albums Yourself or Someone Like You in 1996, Mad Season in 2000, More Than You Think You Are in 2002 and Exile on Mainstream in 2007.

When the guitarist Adam Gaynor left Matchbox Twenty on February 2005, the band decided to have a hiatus to give the members the opportunity to purchase and develop side projects. Another hiatus happened, after Exile on Mainstream, in 2009 when Rob Thomas released his second record Cradlesong which brought questions about the band's return. Gladly their returned happened on 2011 with a one-show return being described as "love letter to our fans". The really expected fifth record is set to be released next September 4th under the name North.

She's So Mean is the first single of North and the video portraits a really angry woman who at some point of the video, meets the band and starts breaking their instruments and even sets their things on fire.
Still a very pretty simple video but that really connects with the song's funny approach.

On an interview for Access Hollywood, Rob Thomas and Kyle Cook both explained She's So Mean wasn't about their wifes and really about no particular girl but “Sometimes really intelligent people will do things that they know aren’t good for them. They’ll get in relationships that they know aren’t good for them, and that was kind of what this was about,” Rob also added. “It was more like an intervention between you and your friend, like, you’re sitting down with your friend and explaining to them how this person’s going to derail their life and they just don’t seem to care.”

Carolina Liar, Show Me What I'm Looking For

Carolina Liar are an alternative rock band created in 2006, living between Los Angeles and Stockholm.
The band is nowadays composed by Chad Wolf (vocals and guitar), Rickard Göransson (guitar), Johan Carlsson (keyboards) and Peter Carlsson (drums and percussion).

Known for songs like I'm Not Over or Show Me What I'm Looking For, Carolina Liar have released two studio albums - Coming to Terms (2008) and Wild Blessed Freedom (2011).

Coming to Terms, was very well accepted by critics with Rolling Stones sharing their "fusing the anthemic elements of U2 and the Killers with the electro production of Swedish pop maestro Max Martin.”
Show Me What I'm Looking For is a song taken from their debut album turning to a hit song on several UK and US radio stations and appearing on TV shows like Gossip Girl or 90210. The song was also used on commercials in the US.

The song was written in 20 minutes and the vocals were recorded on a bedroom in Wolf's first attempt. The Hot Press magazine called the song "a choon and a half" and Digital Spy added "rock music for anyone who finds Snow Patrol a bit too giddy sometimes".

The band also shared staged with Rob Thomas and One Republic.

Rob Thomas, Her Diamonds

Rob Thomas is north-american alternative rock singer and composer, better known for his band Matchbox Twenty and for appearing on Santana's album Supernatural (1999) where Thomas also sings.

In 1999, Robert "Rob" Thomas co-wrote Smooth, receiving three Grammy awards for this fortunate participation, being Smooth one of the most recognized Santana's song. Thomas also composed songs to artists like Mick Jagger and Marc Anthony.

Since 1996, Matchbox Twenty have released several singles broadcast, including hits like Push, 3 a.m. and Bright Light.
In 2004, Songwriters Hall Of Fame gave Rob Thomas the Starlights Award, for his impact and contribution in the music industry.

In 2005, Thomas decided to achieve a solo career releasing from his ...Something To Be first single Lonely No More which was very acclaimed by critics and well received by audience.

In 2009, he released his second album Cradlesong, which first single was Her Diamonds.
The song is about his wife Marisol Maldonado's battle against an auto-immune disease - Lupus erythematosus, and how helpless he feels because there's nothing he can do to help. The ice that appear on the official video represents the fear and doubt.

This song is one of my favorites!!
Here Carlos Santana, one of my forever favorite guitarists, shows his amazing work how simple it is for him to play with the guitar and make a purely genius song.
I love Rob Thomas' voice, he makes it so amazing, so awesome that it is irresistible.
