Ed Sheeran bought a ticket to Los Angeles with no contacts - only a poetry night. He played on "open mics" all over the city until he was discovered by
Jamie Foxx. By the end of that year, his fan-base over the internet started to grow.
In January 2011, he released his EP
No.5 Collaborations which was a collaboration with different artists like
Devlin and
Wiley, becoming the 2nd in the iTunes chart without any promotion or label, selling over 7.000 copies on the first week.
In April he went to the TV Show
Later... with Jolls Holland - performing
The A Team. Six months later, that same song was released as a digital download in the UK, being also used as debut single from his first album

Atlantic Records, in September 2011.
The A Team reached the #3, selling over 58.000 copies on the first week and he was "
(...) congratulated on being the highest-selling and highest-charting debut single of 2011."
+ was released on 9 September 2011, reaching the first week more than 102.000 copies. Media interest on this album came specially from
The A Team and
You Need Me, I Don't Need You - reaching respectively the number 3 and 4 on the UK Single Chart.
Lego House debut on
Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show and is officially released as a single on November 13.
The official video for
Lego House was released on Youtube on October 20, featuring the extremely similar British actor
Rupert Grint, known for his role as
Ron Weasley on
Harry Potter series.
The story of this video is about an obsessive fan, played by
Rupert Grint. That fan is suffering a mental breakdown, ending with
Sheeran and
Grint meeting when
Grint was forcibly removed from the music venue, where
Sheeran was going to play.
