2014 ASPIRATIONS // Hibou, Hide Away

Hibou is Peter Michel, a musician from Seattle who got my attention for his really hawaiian-tropical-electro-pop interpretation.

He already has Dunes, a 16-minute-EP, available online and is preparing his debut record to be release next year.

Hide Away is his newest track and it really seems like a lighter version of Wu Lyf, in this case, that ain't bad, it's actually easier and cooler to listen to.
From Hibou, you can expect songs with great atmosphere around them. It's magical, inspiring and it's a constant surprise.
The electronic upbeat drums, enchanted vocals and dreamy-tropical sounds on the background. Yes, that's inspiring!

If his new record is going to sound like this... Well, I can't wait to see it out there!

2014 ASPIRATIONS // Woodkid, I Love You

Woodkid is the musical alter ego of Yoann Lemoine - better known for being responsible for videos like Katy Perry's Teenage Dream, Lana Del Rey's Born To Die or most recently, Pharrell Williams' 24-hour-video for Happy.

Allied with a very strong visual component, Woodkid is capable of creating dreamy songs inspired in his own world and life philosophy bringing a new capacity and credibility to his music.
All his songs are intelligent, are powerful and really get you in their web and involved in this world of creativity, soul and warmth.

There's a feeling of introspecting, self-learning and our own discovery while listening to Woodkid's work and that's his power.

2014 ASPIRATIONS // Nylo, Cocaine Hearts

Nylo is an R&B from Los Angeles.

With a very magical aura and a romantic voice, Nylo is an artist to keep an eye on.
Her strong beats softly involve with an hypnotising vocals and keeps us surrounded by this energetic and inspiring upbeat future.

Her genre is very personal, it's a very grown-up R&B with glimpses of pop, at some point, that really highlights her phenomenal voice and her extraordinary ear for production. Every thing is meticulously put in place, bringing an amazing feeling to her music.

Cocaine Hearts is a warning about addiction, bringing a new meaning for the mundane meaning to the expression "live fast, die young"

2014 ASPIRATIONS // M|O|O|N, Hydrogen

M|O|O|N appeared as a necessity to release a work.

Stephen is the head behind this genius project.

About him, we can read "I make music I want to listen to. You might like it too."

Known for being part of the game Hotline Miami soundtrack, he has a unique and inspiring way of approaching music turning into a very personal journey and for sure, a type of artist that really brings something new at each listening.
I strongly suggest M|O|O|N as an artist to keep an eye on, during the next year. He is really a huge aspiration and his work is absolutely amazing!

Lorde, Royals

Lorde is the fancy ("Some people think it's religious, but it's not", she says) name adopted by Ella Yelich O'Connor.

About her curious name, she explained to Interview Magazine that "I was trying to come up with a stage name, I thought 'Lord' was a super rad, but really masculine (...) So to make Lord more feminine, I just put an 'e' on the end!" adding that since she was a little girl she was really into royalty and aristocracy.

With sixteen years old, the New-Zealand girl has already released her debut and really acclaimed record Pure Heroine, last September.
In 2012, she released her first EP The Love Club.

This young artist's music reflects a mix of many different things - from hip hop beats to electronic lines  being influenced by artists like James Blake or Lana Del Rey.

Lorde is a bunch of many things but one of my favourite things is her iconic and very characteristic voice for being so raw, so masculine and yet so pure and graceful.
Another sweet thing from her music is the idea given from her "backing vocals" - it really gets us thinking about a young and really modern Björk, doesn't it?

Royals has overthrew Miley Cyrus's Wrecking Ball on Billboard's weekly chart.

Although Royals is quite a minimal song, lyrically it reflects the idea of celebrities lifestyles and "all those references to expensive alcohol, beautiful clothes and beautiful cars – I was thinking, ‘This is so opulent, but it’s also bullshit.’" - she explained to The Diplomat.
This single has a lot of attitude, becoming more mature and cohesive - making us embrace the beat without even acknowledge. This chill-out rhythm is really catchy and impressive from such a young age. I am extremely impressed!

Lorde is surely going to keep surprising. Just wait!

Until The Ribbon Breaks, I Will Remember You

Until The Ribbon Breaks (or UTRB) is the artistic name for Peter Lawrie Winfield, a great producer from Cardiff, Wales.

He usually uses his audiovisual techniques to help his music.

Until The Ribbon Breaks ain't easy. And don't expect to fell in love on the first listen. But they are good, they are strong. He has the ability to create something new from the already existent, bringing to a new achievement to the song, catching our attention to the unexpected and for the unknown.

The upcoming record is yet to release but songs like 2025 and Pressure are already available to purchase and are a very beautiful prospect of UTRB's work and talent.
While 2025 relates with the passage of time and the things that changed our existence, Pressure relates with David Lynch's thriller Lost Highway.

I Will Remember You is almost aerial, reaching to this infinity sight mixed with some kind of harsh reality. It makes us think, it makes us wonder and question.
His music expires and transmits more than simple meanings, allied with a strong visual component fortifying his biggest purpose: music.

Critics compare him to such different artists from James Blake to The Weeknd and Massive Attack but he is really unique and innovative and his premise is very simple... Discover your own world.

Outasight, Tonight Is The Night

Outasight is the stage name for the American singer and rapper Richard Andrew.

The New Yorker's sound weaves between indie rock and hip-hop but draws influences from other genres like classic rock and soul, naming artists like Stevie Wonder, The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix as his main inspirations, describing his music as "Energetic hip-hop mixed with melodic soul".

According to the 27 year-old songwriter "People are conditioned to see certain images for different genres of music".

In 2009, he signed up with the label Warner Brothers Records, after he re-released his previous EP Further (first released in 2009) exclusively on iTunes in March 2010.

Willy Moon, I Wanna Be Your Man

Willy Moon is a young 21-year-old singer-songwriter born in New Zealand who's image reminds the 90's "black wool coat, white suit, pale blue shirt and tie, hair greased and parted with precision".

Moving to London with only 17 years, he found his first months on the city a "massive shock" ending up with no job, no where to live and drug issues "It was largely my fault. If you spend most of your time on the streets of Camden scoring heroin, you are naturally not going to be a very attractive prospect for a job.", he felt a need of change so he moved to Berlin where he had to sand floors and decorate apartments to pay his rent and also where he discovered music per se - "I wanted to do something, I wanted to create something, I wanted to make something of myself. And I thought what a fantastic thing to try and do. It was probably a little bit masochistic, trying to make music for a living. Because the chances of you ever getting anywhere are so fucking slim."

With his friends encouragement, he returned to London in late 2008.
Now with an independent label - Luv Luv Luv - that belong to Universal, Willy Moon is a big promise to 2012.

With a very funky-rockabilly-50's sound with touches of 60's and electronic - considered the Rockabilly of the future - presents I Wanna Be Your Man and She Loves Me.
Both on a single released on December 12, 2011.
An album is expected to be released during the following year.

Know more about Willy Moon on his Facebook or Twitter.

"People try to put you down
Talking that jive all over town
I don't mind what the people say
Gonna talk that jive any old way

I wanna be your man
