Apresentámo-vos o Vitorino Voador fez ontem um ano (Post aqui) a propósito do lançamento do EP Vitorioso Voo. Um ano depois, João Gil lança o tema Venha Ele, que serve de ponte entre o EP e o seu primeiro album de longa duração O dia em que todos acreditaram. O albúm será lançado no primeiro mês de 2015 através da Azáfama.
O dia em que todos acreditaram foi gravado pelo próprio João Gil e masterizado e misturado por José Arantes na L-House, em Londres.
O álbum conta com algumas colaborações das quais destacamos o Noiserv (David Santos), companheiro nos YCWCB, convidado para deixar a marcar neste primeiro single.
A ponte entre o EP e este novo álbum é feita de forma sublime onde podemos escutar o barulho das ondas como pano de fundo, a guitarra acústica, a voz suave do João e as letras simples e humildes que caracterizam as suas canções.

O lançamento do primeiro DVD de Noiserv está agendado para o dia 17 de Novembro.
Este DVD foi filmado em Março deste ano, no Teatro Diogo Bernardes, em Ponte de Lima, e mostra como têm sido os concertos da tournée deste último disco Almost Visible Orchestra, para além de revisitar algumas músicas mais conhecidas dos seus trabalhos anteriores.

Este multi-instrumentalista, com uma voz envolvente e uma presença tímida, e tendência a utilizar objectos impensáveis, eque se tornam na sua essência, mostrou ser um artista muito versátil.
O facto de ser o único em palco, e devido à complexidade e intensidade das suas composições, torna absolutamente deliciosa a experiência de vê-lo construir a música à nossa frente. Um momento bonito!
For Pete Sake são uma das bandas revelação do Fusing, com um conjunto de vozes muito caloroso, que nos levam a uma experiência muito folk.
A música desta banda revela uma construção musical muito interessante e que apela à atenção das pessoas que se envolveram neste concerto, transportando-nos para momentos muito particulares.
Tiveram a capacidade de encher o palco com uma energia contagiante e de salientar, igualmente, as sonoridades místicas que nos levam a envolver intimamente com os For Pete Sake.
Os jovens First Breath After Coma têm um som muito característico e delineador, lembrando artistas como os Vampire Weekend, pela sua simplicidade mas bastante sofisticada, levando-nos a querer ouvir mais sobre eles.
As músicas intensificam-se, com crescendos inteligentes e fortes, que mostram que a música em Portugal se encontra de boa saúde!
Capicua é uma senhora, a forma bonita como introduz as suas musicas e o orgulho com que fala nas mulheres, como em "mão pesada", é um verdadeiro elogio.
Uma força que emana do palco principal e que enche todo o recinto, não deixando ninguém indiferente às suas críticas e temas mais variados.
Rimas, ritmos e batidas são palavras inevitavelmente associadas à Intensa Capicua que revolucion não só a música portuguesa como vem provar que o mundo do rap (já) não é só para os homens.
Esta sereia até pode ser louca mas talento e presença é algo que não lhe falta.
Os You Can't Win, Charlie Brown são a banda coqueluche da música portuguesa e foram uma das bandas que atraiu mais pessoas ao palco principal neste primeiro dia.
De louvar, o "super herói" João Gil que voou do Festival Bons Sons, a acontecer em simultâneo em Tomar, após dois concertos para se juntar à sua banda.
Com a sua característica nostalgia e a sua imensa energia, ritmos e brincadeiras, os You Can't Win, Charlie Brown aqueceram o início de madrugada. Com um concerto sólido e momentos bonitos, a banda consolidou todas as opiniões que já tínhamos sobre eles.
Slow Magic foi uma verdadeira surpresa. Apresentando-se apenas com um portátil, uma espécie de tambor e uma máscara interactiva foi o suficiente para arrastar vários curiosos que não ficaram indiferentes ao misticismo e estranheza da performance, sem deixar de ser incrível.
Com a coragem de se mostrar sozinho em palco, rodeado de samples e bons momentos, Slow Magic merece toda a nossa atenção.

Seja pela música, seja pela sua presença como pela sua simpatia, a banda conquistou um lugar no nosso coração e é por isso que cada conversa com eles é um verdadeiro gosto!
No meio do jardim da Estrela, conversámos com o João Gil e o Salvador Menezes, dois dos seis membros dos YCWCB, para falarmos sobre os diversos temas, incluindo a sua participação no Fusing Culture Experience.
O ano de 2014, é o ano de transição - Optimus Alive vai passar a ser NOS Alive que, já este ano, conta com algumas alterações - um recinto diferente dos anos anteriores, com um aspecto mais proveitoso, atractivo e simples, aliados à cor do (novo) patrocinador do Festival. Muda o nome, muda o aspecto e, neste caso, ainda bem!
Admito... Ouvi mais inglês e espanhol, no recinto, do que português, o que mostra a multiplicidade de nacionalidades deste festival e da sua visibilidade internacional, cada vez mais forte (caso contrário, para quê tanto anúncio do NME ou Heineken, nos intervalos?)
Falando do que realmente importa...
Noiserv é sempre um gosto ouvir, a sua pureza e mistificação tornam o concerto deste "one-man-show" algo extraordinário, que teve as honras de ser dos primeiros artistas a inaugurar a edição deste ano. O ambiente, ainda longe de mostrar as milhares de pessoas que se deslocariam ao festival, mostrou-se propício à simpatia deste músico.
Temples foram uma surpresa - com um espírito e atitude muito próprias conquistaram o público que se deslocou ao palco secundário e foi surpreendido por uma atitude muito 80's e, sem dúvida, muitas pessoas saíram fãs destes jovens.
Já, no palco principal, The Lumineers deram o ar da sua graça e, num pôr-do-sol que pareceu enquadrar-se com o folk e simplicidade desta banda norte-americana, muitos foram arrebatados pela simpatia e sonoridades mais calmas da banda. Há uma sensação bonita de renovação após este concerto.
Imagine Dragons mostraram-se fiéis ao que apresentaram, o ano passado, na sua primeira passagem por Portugal. Energéticos, tiveram a capacidade de conquistar um público que não estava lá para os ver (tarefa um pouco ingrata) mas não descuraram um segundo da sua alegria, energia e música - tornando-se claro ao ver milhares de pessoas cantarem os seus principais hits. Não surpreendeu mas foi bonito e deixou os verdadeiros fãs a aguardar um novo regresso, novamente a solo, com novas músicas na bagagem.
Interpol foi dos concertos mais bonitos (e ingratos). Uma banda com mais de uma década de existência viu-se perante um público que mal os conhecia. Não deixaram de fazer um óptimo concerto, com a competência e credibilidade que lhes é devida, e merecedores de uma maior atenção.
Talvez se o palco Heineken estivesse mais composto o concerto de Kelis tivesse sido mais empolgante. Afinal, era complicado competir, precisamente à mesma hora, com os Arctic Monkeys. No entanto, a Kelis brindou os poucos ouvintes que se deslocaram ao Palco Heineken com a sua voz rouca mas (algo) poderosa. Não foi um concerto marcante mas uma boa alternativa a quem os cabeças de cartaz não interessavam.
Arctic Monkeys foram os reis e senhores da noite - a banda mais esperada deste dia (e, provavelmente, desta edição) mostraram porque são uma das bandas de culto, actualmente.
É evidente a evolução sonora da banda, havendo, uma harmonia entre os primeiros discos e este último AM. Banhados em energia, "sexappeal" e graciosidade, os Arctic Monkeys deram o seu tudo e envolveram um público, demasiado, ansioso para os ver. Foi um concerto interessante, místico e estranhamento íntimo - com Alex Turner a fazer suspirar os corações no recinto.
Entre dedicações de amor e provocações óbvias como "Are you mine, Lisbon?"
O certo é que deram o concerto da noite e provaram porque são os actuais meninos queridos da música.
Assim que o concerto dos Arctic Monkeys terminou os milhares que esgotaram o primeiro dia do (agora) NOS Alive começaram a dispersar quer para casa, para o palco Heinken onde tocavam os Parov Stelar Band quer para o palco Clubbing onde iria tocar o Jamie XX. Depois de terem tocado ao longo da tarde e da noite vários dos seus "amigos", chegou a vez do "criador" do primeiro dia do Palco Clubbing subir ao palco. Assim que o fez arrancou as pessoas do chão e alguns aplausos e conquistou o seu público (e o público dos The XX) ao tocar a Sunset (do album Coexist dos The XX) e logo de seguida Far Nearer.
Títulos compridos e carismáticos deve ser um lema do artista Português noiserv.
This is maybe the place where trains are going to sleep at night é o nome do terceiro single tirado de Almost Visible Orchestra.

O ano começou agora mas tenho a certeza que este segundo disco dos You Can't Win, Charlie Brown me vai acompanhar todo o ano como um dos melhores discos de 2014.
Eles não fazem as coisas por menos.
Diffraction/Refraction é poderoso, envolvente e com uma melodia suave que fica nas nossas mentes durante dias.
É um disco que se supera a si próprio, supera o Chromatic mas não foge aos YCWCB.
Ora... É um disco que precisa de ser ouvido e assimilado porque de cada vez vamos descobrir qualquer coisa nova, diferente, peculiar, um pormenor que não tínhamos ouvido antes.
É um disco que precisa de tempo. Não por ser mau mas por ser extraordinariamente único. Precisa de ser ouvido e assimilado. Diffraction/Refraction é, acima de tudo, uma companhia, uma presença constante. Um daqueles discos que serve em qualquer ocasião porque se enquadra sempre.
As melodias suaves, os instrumentos intensificados numa e noutra altura, a envolvência das vozes tão estranhamente exóticas - como só os YCWCB, conseguem fazer.
Já era uma apaixonada pelos sons, pela particularidade e especificidade do trabalho dos YCWCB.
Depois de Diffraction/Refraction, posso dizer que me voltei a apaixonar.
Os YCWCB dão-nos uma outra perspectiva das coisas, são capazes de nos mudar e de nos criar uma aura especial. Eles envolvem cada pessoa, cada instrumento, cada melodia e transformam-nos.
É um disco promissor que mostra a qualidade infinita desta banda e da sua capacidade de mutação e transformação sem nunca perderem a sua alma.

A few days ago, they release the first single Be My World taken from their upcoming work.
The new record is going to be released next January. Diffraction/Refraction was mixed by Luís Nunes (Walter Benjamin) and mastered by Rafael Toral.
Be My World reproduces, in little more than 4 minutes, all the energy, sound and atmosphere of the new record.
It's a powerful, involving, soft-melodic song. The worst? This great song gets stuck in your head for days.
The video is really simple, pretty, absolutely catchy and really connects with the song - really sums the band and their new direction whose concept and production is responsibility of Tomás Sousa, YCWCB drummer.
Hot news: You Can't Win, Charlie Brown announce the first live presentation of the upcoming Diffraction/Refraction.
The date is set on January 18th, at CCB, in Lisboa and the tickets goes from 5€ to 15€, with several discounts when purchased at CCB.

Figueira da Foz is receiving a very interesting and peculiar festival from 1 to 4 of August.
From music to a vast number of workshops, Fusing Culture Experience promises a lot of different activities.
This first edition is a fusion of four different areas - Music, Art, Sport and Gastronomy.
In the music section, Fusing counts with great Portuguese artists like Orelha Negra, Linda Martini, Paus, noiserv, HMB, António Zambujo, We Trust, Frankie Chavez, DJ Ride, Throes + The Shine and a lot of other names.
Besides music, you can count with the a Culinary workshop (with Chakall), on arts with a collective exposition "The Art of Using the box" or a multisensorial exposition "Explode" among other Photography and short film expositions.
Another innovation is the big number of sport activies like Surf at night, adapted surf, between others.

As we announced previously here, the Portuguese artist Noiserv is releasing his new album next Fall and day by day he is revealing small pieces of this work.
Today is the same as Yesterday, but Yesterday is not Today is the upcoming single.
Travelling between reality and dream, between what we think it's real or a part of our imagination, this music also travels around the sounds characterises Noiserv.
This video was made by Daniel Espírito Santo (from Bold Creative Studio), Pedro Sousa, João Botas and Daniela Siragusa, leaving us this main message "Are our days all the same?"
And with the Portuguese radio station Antena 3, Noiserv is showing the steps and evolution of making a record and after the Part 1... the Part 2 is finally out.
Noiserv is announcing his new record that is predicted to be released in next October.
With the premise of "47 seconds are enough if you only have one thing to do", Noiserv is creating - as usual - a mystery and hypnotic sensation of desire to know what's coming up with his second record.
Without any other information besides a video and a simple quote, the only thing we have to do is wait and listen to this 47 seconds of music that bring a lot of promise and expectation.

Noiserv is a Portuguese solo project by the multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter David Santos.
David Santos became one of the most important, alternative and experimental Portuguese acts of the last decades - walking hand in hand with dreams and reality.
He is also a member of the Portuguese band You Can't Win, Charlie Brown.
The project started in 2005 with a few songs on a demo 56010-92. A few months later, the label Merzbau released them online.
In 2008 he releases his debut album One Hundred Miles from Thoughtlessness, a four-time sold out and very-well received album.
Somewhere in the following year, he made some international performances in countries like Germany, England or Scotland.
2010 brought Noiserv back - in July with a lovely EP named A Day In The Day Of The Days - a soundtrack for an entire day and November when he finished a collaboration of 15 songs that appeared on the soundtrack of the documentary José & Pilar - about the Portuguese writer José Saramago and his relationship with Pilar Del Río.
He also collaborated with artists like UTTER, Luís Costa (also member of YCWCB) or Sérgio Godinho.
On recent interviews he revealed that a new album is coming soon.
Mr. Carousel or alternatively known as 6.00 am - Mr.Carousel belongs to A Day In The Day Of The Days EP released in 2010.

The Portuguese band You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown (or YCWCB) made a gig at a beautiful old cinema in Lisbon – Cinema São Jorge. The main objective of this show was to raise funds so the band can accomplish their dream and be able to perform on the very known US festival South By Southwest (SXSW), in Texas next March 13.
On a small but full cosy old cinema room, the band gave an amazing show without big scenarios or huge visual effects, focusing mainly on small individual stages, with several instruments and some interesting neon colors contrasting with the basic colors on the top of each stage.
The band was responsible for the entire production. The colorful stages were created by João Paulo Feliciano, co-owner of the Patacas label (with his brother Mário Feliciano).
All the scenarios followed the songs, creating a harmonious environment, becoming even more exciting to see them.
One of the best things of the night was exactly that, their connection as people and as a band. They are long-time friends and that was clear on every smile, every laugh, every look and every story they shared. And You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown didn’t simple show up, play and leave like it was an awkward job to do. They tried to connect with people. Their honesty background appeared along the show, and it was obvious how six guys (from who we would expect something really messy) turned out to be so simple, so passionately dedicated and so full of expectations … They overcome themselves, what I’ve seen on that show was bigger than a three-year old band. YCWCB are like that – honest – and that reflects on everything they do.
The band is composed by a six multi-task band – Afonso Cabral, Salvador Menezes, David Santos (Noiserv), Tomás Sousa, Luís Costa and João Gil – where everyone plays almost everything. But this show also counted with a very special guest appearance.
Before the show the expectations were high but “The pressure was much bigger for the logistic involved on the stages, lights and the reason behind the show” said Luís Costa (usually on the guitars). According to him the only ritual the band has before coming to stage is the traditional “Eat fast, we are already late!” added with humor.
The show started a bit after 10 pm, the band’s first thought was “There’s really A LOT of people!”
The first song was An Ending – curiously the last of their album Chromatic – making a slow and calm start with a beautiful piano introduction and oddly amazing arrangements.
Along the night the show included incredible vocal interpretations by Afonso, Salvador and David (Noiserv) singing and performing great songs like Until December, I’ve Been Lost or A While Can Be A Long Time. With João running from guitars to keyboards, Afonso to the guitars and funny instrumental swaps.
Calm moments with Sad Song and Glimpse didn’t disturb the joyful, enthusiastic and happy spirit on the colorful stage, contributing to a very festive night.
The young band dared to play a Leonard Cohen’s classic – Who By Fire – showing how graceful and curious YCWCB can be, exceeding their own limits.
PAUS – the special guest appearance, or at least the Siamese drums section performed by the huge Hélio Morais and Joaquim Albergaria – also contributed for the festive feeling.
They performed Deixa-me Ser – a PAUS original – and Song Worm. The eight artists didn’t mess up a bit and we were able to see one of the best moments of the night, without missing kind compliments and supporting words from PAUS.
I want to highlight Tomás performance with the PAUS’ drummers. It was obvious his contagious happiness for all the good reasons.
Playing almost the entire Chromatic, the band played Sort Of from their first self-titled EP before a very small break.
You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown left the stage returning minutes after to conclude brilliantly the show with three more songs.
But there was time for a joke from Afonso saying “No one gets fooled by this encore stories anymore. Wow, we’re back… Surprise!”
The Song Below started the encore with Afonso on the piano and Luís following up on the guitar, introducing the new Medicine from their EP 3.33, including the return of the rest of the band.
The gig ended with the strong and known Over The Sun/Under The Water inviting back to stage their guests PAUS, who ended amazingly cool with all the audience clapping, singing, dancing and celebrating the great night they had.
At the end of the show, the band was “euphoric, and we still are! It was probably our best end of concert ever, thanks to PAUS!”
Many people were able to congratulate them and support personally the band for their success in Texas. About it, Luís said “I don’t know how to answer this without sounding any cliché, but the public was incredible… Since we enter the stage - being probably our biggest standing ovation we had so far – until the apotheotic end with everyone standing and dancing” he also added that the people’s feedback was “excellent, not only on the direct contact after the show, but also from messages added on our Facebook along the days. We have the best fans in the world!”
You Can't Win,Charlie Brown are absolutely part of the Portuguese music future.
