Frescobol é o single de avanço, já anda nas boas do mundo, pela sua diferença, qualidade e uma ligação muito íntima com a música dos anos 80 e 90.

O disco #batequebate conjuga uma "mescla de referências, de ritmos, de texturas, de samples, de géneros e acima de tudo de culturas" - pode ler-se na press release - vincado com sons de guitarra muito pop e festivo e uma melodia muito cliché - não deixando de se tornarem interessantes e, acima de tudo, sem deixarem de surpreender.

Estes jovens são sérios e ousaram fazer uma crítica atenta à sociedade, ao mundo e às pessoas, sem "qualquer tipo de filtro ou preconceito".
#batequebate junta dentro de si, durante pouco menos de 45 minutos, sons que viajam pela beleza das décadas 80 e 90 da música - com elementos pop de Michael Jackson, samples das Spice Girls, o hip-hop desgarrado dos Da Weasel, e uma assustadora intimidade inspirada em James Blake (espero!) e através da sua relação tão próxima tornando as músicas deste disco "livres leves e soltas".

Vistos como uma das maiores promessas da música Portuguesa dos últimos anos, os Ermo são compostos por António Costa e Bernardo Barbosa cujo trabalho é motivado pela vontade de fazerem música única, desenvolvendo um som muito particular - fortemente influenciados pela música feita em Portugal e por música mais moderna. Com um EP em 2012 e um disco Vem Por Aqui -lançado em Novembro de 2013 -, acrescentando um novo EP Amor vezes quatro que vem a caminho, o projecto conversou connosco sobre a música em Portugal, as suas influências e o seu futuro. Lê a entrevista na íntegra abaixo.
FYMS: Numa altura em que Portugal não vive os seus melhores tempos, Vem por aqui fala do nosso país. Traduzem nas vossas canções o carinho que sentem por Portugal e de certa forma a vossa opinião sobre a situação em que vivemos? Completamente. É de resto um pouco essa a ideia; um retrato de Portugal que vise não só uma posição realista – ou seja, de fora, analítica numa certa medida – mas também uma posição mais pessoal, a declaração de um ponto de vista próprio. FYMS: Em que medida é que a historicidade de Braga e o seu ambiente influenciaram os sons e músicas que vocês produzem? Enquanto habitantes de Braga não podíamos deixar de nos sentir afectados, na hora de compor música, por aquilo que a cidade representa. E penso que é possível subtrair daquilo que fazemos um pouco da mística que por cá existe. FYMS: Em 2012 foram apontados como das maiores promessas musicais para 2013 pela TimeOut. 2013 marcou o lançamento do “Vem por aqui” e alguns concertos em Portugal e no estrangeiro. Como está a correr esta aventura? Com tem sido a aceitação em Portugal e lá fora? Tem corrido muito bem! O álbum foi bem recebido e é um trabalho com o qual estamos muito satisfeitos; os concertos e as opiniões de quem nos vê parecem confirmar que também ao vivo existe uma boa resposta por parte do público. Quanto aos concertos lá fora (durante a tour internacional de Dezembro e também na Galiza, pouco depois disso) podemos apenas dizer que fomos surpreendidos pelo quão bem as pessoas parecem ter recebido a mensagem da nossa música, mesmo não compreendendo o português. FYMS: Como vêm a música portuguesa hoje em dia? Sentem que projetos de apoio e divulgação como a Optimus Discos são fundamentais para a evolução da nossa música? A música portuguesa segue hoje em dia um bom rumo, e especialmente cresce em número de criadores (algo que também se torna possível devido ao carácter peculiar dos tempos que vivemos). Os apoios consistiram sempre num dos critérios de sobrevivência de qualquer artista, pelo que apenas podemos louvar (enquanto produtores e consumidores) todas as ajudas que contribuem para que continue a existir uma cena musical sólida no nosso país. Obviamente, continua a ser muito difícil manter um projecto artístico de qualquer espécie num país que, apesar de tudo, ainda se mostra muito vedado à cultura; é necessário começar a compreender esta enquanto uma prioridade (mesmo política e económica) para que qualquer coisa mude substancialmente. FYMS: Começaram este ano com uma alguns concertos em Inglaterra e França. Quais são os planos para 2014? Em 2014 pretendemos continuar a tocar; não dizemos que não a um regresso ao estrangeiro, embora para já esse não seja um dos pontos principais da nossa agenda. Queremos também lançar um EP, que já se encontra totalmente composto e que se chamará Amor vezes quatro, e acerca do qual teremos certamente notícias num futuro próximo. FYMS: A vossa sonoridade junta sons e vozes que à partida não imaginaríamos juntos. Podemos esperar mais “surpresas” no futuro? O conceito de surpresa subentende imediatamente algo de inesperado, do qual não se está à espera. Penso que deste projecto podem esperar a continuação de muito trabalho, e principalmente um contributo sempre sincero; vamos continuar a fazer aquilo que acharmos melhor e aquilo que considerarmos mais interessante. Nada nos dará mais prazer do que sentir a curiosidade dos outros no que toca ao nosso projecto. FYMS: Perguntas da Praxe: a) Um dia... editamos o nosso EP, talvez em Setembro mas definitivamente antes do final deste ano. b) O melhor que podem dizer sobre mim... é a verdade. O comentário sincero é o único que interessa. c) O pior que podem dizer sobre mim... é nada. Todas as críticas, desde que fundamentadas, possuem o seu valor; em todo o tipo de modelo artístico o silêncio é o pior tipo de insulto. d) Daqui a 10 anos... esperamos que a nossa música continue a ser do interesse de quem nos ouve. FYMS: O que diriam aos leitores do FYMS? Para que descubram a nossa música, se ainda não a conhecem, e para que caso gostem do que fazemos continuem atentos às nossas novidades e também ao que de novo aparece aqui no site!
Sereia Louca foi lançado dia 3 de Março, produzido por D-One, Conductor, Ride, Stereossauro, Zeg e Serial e conta com participações de Gisela João, Aline Frazão e M7.
Os concertos de apresentação estão marcados para dia 29 de Março no Plano B, no Porto, e dia 5 de Abril no Musicbox em Lisboa.
Um disco que fala das mulheres, da água, da morte e dessa coisa
complicada que é o passar do tempo e da idade. Um disco de Rap que nos diz
coisas estranhas ao ouvido e que, tal como as sereias, tem duas metades. (...) É nessas duas metades
("Cabeça" e "Cauda", como "cap i cua") que o
disco se completa e que, de um sonho estranho, nasce música de uma sapataria. O
disco chama-se "Sereia Louca" (ou "serei a louca", se quiserem)
e será editado pela Norte Sul em Março de 2014.

Hello Atlantic recently announced the release of his debut LP: Rambling Coast.
This is a project from João Esteves, whose songs appeared after a trip to Finland where he missed his home.
Around 2011, he already had released two digital EP's and in 2012, Slob of the Kitchen Sea was published - recorded in Helsinki and edited in Portugal, through Optimus Discos.
After live performances in Portugal and Finland, he releases Rambling Coast, tomorrow.
Rambling Coast, that includes already released songs from the upcoming recorded - Rambling Coast and Animals Of Dusk, is set to be released tomorrow, November 12.
To remind, the new record is a independent release and it will be available through Bandcamp and iTunes.
A special physical version will count with 100 unique and numbered copies.
Next November 22, Hello Atlantic will present Rambling Coast on Bacalhoeiro, in Lisboa.

Ermo is a Portuguese project, who met the stages in 2012.
This band, composed by António Costa and Bernardo Barbosa, is motivated by the will to make unique music, developing a very iconic sound, mixing Portuguese tradicional music and its brave history with modern electronic beats influenced by their hometown, Braga.
Last year, after a very good and acclaimed EP, Portuguese media announced them as one of the biggest promises for 2013.
Next November 25, they are releasing their debut album Vem por Aqui, through Optimus Discos. Correspondência is the first single taken from the record.
It's a love song that doesn't talk, necessarily, about love but it is a representation of a letter to a country, showing a devotion and love for everything that it represents.
Symbolising a ruined country but, at the same time, this song seems like an apology, a light of hope.
Ciclo Preparatório are the new fancy band in the Portuguese musical scene.
Later in March, we talked about their single Lena Del Rey, and the richness of their music and style.
At the time, they were preparing their debut album.
With the guidance of Pedro de Tróia (better known for being part of Os Capitães da Areia), the first album is finally out. As Viúvas não temem a Morte is now available legally and for free at Optimus Discos.
It's definitely a type of record that we expect from a longtime band but... that only proves that the youngsters also have a great talent and know what they are doing.
This record is absolutely amazing and you have the need to listen many times because at each time you'll find something new and impressive.
Ciclo Preparatório's newest single is A Volta ao Mundo com a Lena D'Água that features one of the most charming voices of the last decades in the Portuguese music, Lena D'Água.
It's a sweet melody, fitting perfectly in the softness of the Summer spirit. It's a fresh song from a very unique and prospecting band.
Pedro Chamorra and Pedro Pinto, two Portuguese musicians, got to know each other between DJ sets and long studio sessions and formed 5 years ago the Voxels.
Their favorite artists go from the Daft Punk, to Basement Jaxx or Armand Van Helden. Voxels had the opportunity to use these sounds in their EP’s edited by national and internacional editors, such as Enchufada, Top Billin or the Con+ainer and in remixes for various artists spread all over the world (Buraka Som Sistema, Chromatics, Tomas Barfod, Spektrum, Moullinex, Ben Mono, etc..), showing different sides of the duo.
2013 marks the year that they decided it was finally time to have an album of their own and created their first album: Bachelor House. It ranges from the best dance music from the 90s, to the happy Disco-House, melodic and funky which lead an entire generation to listen to music in dark rooms.
Bachelor House is described as powerful, fun and melodic. It’s an album that takes its listeners in a travel into the world of dance music. With this debut album, the Voxels share their interpretation of the history of the House music with the rest of the world.
Bachelor House is the first single of this first album.
Ciclo Preparatório are a really young Portuguese band composed by Sebastien, Pape, Graça, Consolação, Constança and Benedita in March 2012.
They are preparing their debut record, to be released in April through the label Optimus Discos.

This first entry through Ciclo Preparatório's work is an innocent adventure between the bushes of the Portuguese language and a honest reflection of Portugal's society with a few glimpses of an imagined world.
Lena Del Rey sounds like a fresh, out of the world anthem - at first, our first thoughts (obviously) go to the American singer Lana Del Rey but as soon as we listen to this track we get involved in this dreamy, catchy and really "traditional" song.
They are different, they are new and fresh but Ciclo Preparatório don't forget their roots and pay such a beautiful tribute in this song with beautiful harmonies, soft lyrics and a really good bunch of talented people behind the project.
Absolutely, one of the must-listen Portuguese bands in 2013.

Little Friend is the project of John Almeida, music and writer born in London, son of Portuguese parents, based in Porto, Portugal.
During some time, he wrote several musics that were brought together and formed the Little Friend, an alter ego, that simultaneously can be a collective entity. Alexandre Monteiro (The Weatherman) and André Tentugal (We Trust) were part of the team that helped John Almeida to record his very first record as Little Friend, called We Will Destroy Each Other.
In this first album we can find different influences, from folk to pop. The melodies are simple and subtle complemented by interesting and introspective lyrics – sometimes a bit more dark – which results in an intimate as well as intense environment.
This new album will be out tomorrow, March 26.
The first single from this album is called Sunken Low. John Almeida sings and plays the guitar and is accompanied by Alexandre Monteiro (Drums), André Tentugal (keyboards and drums) and Miguel Araújo Jorge (Bass).
At first sight, Little Friend with this first song gives to the music lovers very good perspectives to what is coming regarding his work. We will definitely follow this new artist and see if he can overcome our – already - high expectations.

oLudo are a Portuguese band created in August 2005 by Davide Anjos (vocals and guitars), Nuno Campos (keyboards), João Baptista (guitars and vocals), Paulo Ferreirim (bass guitar) and Filipe Cabeçadas (drums).
With the previous drummer Manuel Ramires, they participated on MAIS Música 2006 - where they reached the second place and also the best cover for O Outro from Adriana Calcanhoto.
In 2009, they've released their debut EP Nascituro - which was being prepared since 2007 -, with six songs that represented oLudo's energy and sound. A Minha Grande Culpa was included on the compilation Novos Talentos FNAC of the same year.
In 2010, they are invited by Henrique Amaro to record their other EP Mil Tentações and released through Optimus Discos.
They also participated on the Antena 3's festival Portugália - 3 Pistas playing songs with simpler approaches.
Almirante is the name of the new record but also it's the main character - a "being" with strange features that is somehow familiar. Resembles the ocean, the Portuguese wild spirit but it keeps being a simple and remarkable figure for those who dare to listen.
This record talks about life, adventures, friendships and lost lovers - at the end, it is a reflection of what we live, a reflection of the present itself.
Queria Ficar Sem Receios is the new exciting single from oLudo taken from Almirante (and available on the band's website).
Just as their previous Fica Não Te Vás Daqui, the new single brings a new world of sensation and it's strong enough to make you travel to another world and touch your hidden-inner-self.
Vitorino Voador is the other "persona" created by the Portuguese João Gil.
The name came from two beautiful moments of his music career - one from a mistake he'd seen on a poster and another when he was photographed jumping from a car.
The image was made by his sister and Vitorino Voador is now something real.
This persona came from the need to leave the known self behind and become something new and fresh. Vitorino Voador creates his own language and tells his own songs. According to Time Out, he would be described something like "a weird pop maker".
The first single is Carta de Amor Foleira. The song appeared on the compilation Novos Talentos FNAC 2012 and is also included on Vitorino Voador's first EP.
This fantastic EP Vitorioso Voo counts with six songs and it was released through Optimus Discos, produced by João Gil and José de Castro and masterized by Bernardo Barata.
The EP counts a story whose second chapter is already being written and planned to be released somewhere in the beginning of 2013.
Nowadays, João Gil, who's born in Lisbon in 1980, is part of such different bands like You Can't Win, Charlie Brown, Feromona and Diabo na Cruz.

The Afrobeat band Terrakota are ending a very successful Summer tour on B.Leza, with Rio Tejo has background and a huge energy.
They invite their fans to joined them on this celebration, creating a magical night where a mix of cultures, societies and languages is going to be strongly noticed.
With a new approach, rhythms and energy - Terrakota who are known for fusing their African roots with very rich sounds and genres, that will go from Afrobeat to Afrofunk and Samba, passing through Funana and Marrabenta.
For sure, it's going to be a beautiful, rich, exploring show with new sounds and music.

Promoting their debut record, for those who don't know, Salto are a Portuguese band created in 2007 by Guilherme Tomé Ribeiro,Luis Montenegro and Tito Romão.

We described Salto as "Full of personality and freshness from people with early twenties" and gladly that's all confirmed, as you can see on this very relaxed and revealing interview, where they share their story, their dreams and especially their sweetness. Salto is the Portuguese word for Jump and is also the name of a Portuguese band created in 2007 by Guilherme Tomé Ribeiro and Luis Montenegro, with only 16 years old. Nowadays, they also count with the talented Tito Romão.
In 2010 they were part of Novos Talentos FNAC and Amor Fúria - Depósito de Inúteis from Optimus Discos, participating in big festivals like Optimus Alive.
But 2012 is their year. The homonym album is set to be released next July 2, after a year and a half of hard work. Influenced by such different bands and artists like Rufus Wainwright, Arctic Monkeys or the Portuguese Ornatos Violeta they created a new kind of expression, a new youth style where they celebrate their mother language and mostly where they celebrate Pop.
Full of personality and freshness from people with early twenties, their sound goes somewhere between the 60's to dance, with a bit of New Order and Pet Shop Boys 80's characteristic melodies and at some point some of James Blake.
Salto's record was produced by New Max - better known for being part of Expensive Soul.
The presentation single is the delicious, incredible and really catchy Deixar Cair.

Julie & The Carjackers are a Portuguese band created in the summer of 2009 by João Correia and Bruno Pernadas.
After several years of working together on other musical projects from jazz to rock, the project was created "to give shape to a body of songs that both the musicians had been composing but couldn't fit in their previous projects." as we can read on their Facebook.
Influenced by tropical and jazz music, Julie & The Carjackers are a rock-folk band who shares timeless and unexpected music.
In 2010, the band released a self-titled online EP through Optimus Discos. This first work was very low-fi, very home-made, somewhere near the naif and strongly influenced by bossa-nova and the 90's American rock music.
In 2011, they saw their song Boxes being included on the music collection Novos Talentos FNAC.
Later that year, in November, Julie & The Carjackers released their debut album Parasol.
The album is a reflection of their many influences from Chico Buarque to The Beatles and The Beach Boys, with rich arrangements, curious instruments and a sweet environment. Parasol was mixed by Luís Nunes - better known as Walter Benjamin - and released by the Portuguese label Pataca Discos.
Julie & The Carjackers are composed by João Correia (vocals, percussion and guitars), Bruno Pernadas (guitars), Inês Sousa (vocals and percussion), Margarida Campelo (vocals and keyboards), Pedro Pinto (double-bass and electric bass) and António V. Dias (vocals and drums).
According to João Correia, Mr. Williams is about a guy who thinks is sloppy and unlucky but he isn't because he wastes his time complaining instead of appreciating what's around him.
You Can't Win, Charlie Brown released a few days ago their second single from their debut album Chromatic, I've Been Lost was the chosen one to follow Over The Sun/Under The Water. The video is a collaboration between Pedro Gaspar, Nuno Sousa Dias, Francisco Nogueira and Vasco Gaspar.
Besides the incredible new single, the young You Can't Win, Charlie Brown were the only Portuguese band to be selected to participate on South By Southwest 2012 Festival which happens in Austin, Texas.
But unfortunately all the expenses are responsibility of the band, so they request everyone's help to turn this chance into something really real.

The Doups are a Portuguese band from Setúbal, created in 2007.
For the band composed by João Rodrigues, Gustavo Andrade, André Rosa e Nuno Cunha, 2009 was the real turning point for them.

Fuck Yeah Music Stories:Hi! How are you doing?
The Doups: We’re doing fine. rehearsing, studying, eating christmas’ left overs…
Fuck Yeah Music Stories:How did The Doups started a music career?
TD: It started as a joke at the high school… then we did some gigs and everytime we played someone would invite us to another gig… so it became much more serious than we could ever imagine.
FYMS:Is there any story for your band’s name: The Doups? TD: There is one but it’s not interesting at all! Our former guitar player drawn something and called it “The Doups” during a class, that’s it!
FYMS:How would you define The Doups? TD: First of all we are best friends… We are 5 regular guys, we have different interests, we all love music but that is not the only thing that keep us together.
FYMS:How do some Portuguese artists end up wining an English contest? How did everything happen? TD: We were invited to record an EP in London by a producer called Harvey Birrell at the Southern Studios… when we got back to Portugal our ex manager said we should send one of the songs to this contest (Supajam) and we did it. In the beginning of the contest people were asked to vote online in their favorite songs and we got to the 40 finalists with thousands of votes. One day we got a call from London saying we were on the top 5 bands. So… we flight to London to play the final at The Pigalle Club and we didn’t win. The prize was to play at the Benicassim Festival (Kings of Leon, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand…). We were 3rd but they really liked our band, so we were invited to go to the festival with artist passes and there we met a lot of big bands.
FYMS:As artists, which are your biggest dreams? TD: To be happy and play all the big Festivals around the world.
FYMS:2009 was an amazing year for The Doups – recorded an EP, played on Rock One Festival along big names like The Offspring and My Bloody Valentine and also opened Franz Ferdinand’s show in Lisbon. What can you tell us about that? TD: It was great… we were very young and the band had only 2 years so it was great for us. We learned a lot and we got the chance to meet some of our childhood heroes. We think it was a very helpful experience and now we look at the things with a different perspective.
FYMS:Can you tell us some artists that influence you in any way?
TD: Mostly the bands after the year 2000. Of course we love all the classic rock bands but we can say that bands such as The Strokes and the Arctic Monkeys are our biggest influences. But we also love the good old blues legends and bands like The Doors… it’s really hard to tell cause we are 5 guys and we like a lot of bands/musicians.
FYMS:Your first album – Small Town Gossip – was released on October 2011, through Optimus Discos and has a free download. Why did you decided to release this way?
TD: Our band started in a very challenging moment for the music industry… From the beginning we realized that record labels weren’t signing any new bands. We think that our early “success” a few years ago would be enough to get a record deal with a label. It didn’t happen. So, after realeasing our EP via Itunes, exclusively online cause we didn’t have the money to print CD´s, we understood that nobody was buying music anyway. The bands should expect to earn money by playing as much as they can and selling merchandise, not by selling their music. Internet is a big problem for the artists who were used to sell millions of copys but for bands like us internet is the key factor. If it wasn’t for the internet we wouldn’t be here. So we decided to record the album on our own and we were supposed to release it for free. When Henrique Amaro called us inviting us to release it trough Optimus Discos we were very happy. The CD is available for legal download as we wanted and it is also available in record stores. It was perfect for us and we must thank to Henrique and all the Optimus Discos crew who did an amazing job.

FYMS:Can you name a favorite track from the record? Is there any particular reason? TD: We like them all, really. We were amazed with the final result. Bruno Lobato, our producer, did exactly what we want, he is great! Maybe Scratching My Face is our favorite cause it’s a little different and was one of the last being composed…
FYMS:With a promising career and a great debut album, which are your upcoming steps? TD: Now we are promoting the album, doing interviews for radio,tv stations and Blogs (thank you all, you guys are very important for us), gigging as much as we can and hoping for a tour abroad…
FYMS:You are from Portugal, how do you think about the importance given to Music here? TD: In Portugal Music always had an important role… Everybody use to watch Festival da Canção and we always had great singers such as Fernando Tordo, Simone de Oliveira etc... We also have Fado as one of the most important icons in our culture… so Portugal really likes music. We don’t have money to invest in culture though. It’s a shame cause we know we can do the same or better than our neighbors.
FYMS:Can you remember your first performance? How did it go?
TD: It was awful. Was in a beach inside a tent sale. I think you guys can imagine…
FYMS:We know you have some live experiences. Is there any ritual before going to stage?
TD: Not really. There’s only one thing we do wich is not to get drunk.
FYMS:Is there any play that you would love to play, and you haven’t yet? TD: Sure. Here in Portugal we played in great places such as Campo Pequeno and all the relevant bars but we’d love to play Paredes De Coura Festival, we love the scenario… outside Portugal we´d love to play all the big festivals as we said before.
FYMS:How is your lyric writing process? Where do you get the ideas to write them? TD: its very simple. We write about regular stuff so we get together and write the lyrics most of the times listening to the song already recorded.
FYMS:Is there any band/artist that have recently blown your mind?
TD: I’d say Márcia, I wasn’t expecting lyrics as good as hers.
FYMS:Is there any hidden talent, besides music, that we can know about? TD: André started surfing since he was a little kid, (Nuno) Cunha is a very talented drawer and Bmx rider, João is a specialist in Portuguese history even though is studying engineer and Gustavo is a football player.
FYMS:If you didn’t belong to the music world, where would you imagine yourselves doing? TD: we are all studying so unfortunately we imagine ourselves being lawyers, engineers, producers…
